""Cafe & Te" (Ga Compania Del Tropico). There are several in Madrid, this being a chain business. I visited three in central Madrid and decided that here was the best place to eat well at a reasonable price. These places do not try to be bars, but cafes for lunch and breakfast.
Two of these were exc..."ellent, in terms of food standards, chioce and service. I tried the Spanish paella, refreshing smoothies and ice cream. But they have an extensive menu also.
The third displayed a problem I have come across before in Spain. The one on Carrera de San Jeronimo, near Plaza del Sol. The staff can sometimes dislike customers who do not speak Spanish. "Ate here twice as found we couldn't better the 12 euro deal.....a choice of 2 starters, main and dessert including a lovely dip/bread, a glass of wine and a complimentary mango and cava drink to finish up with...the guys behind the bar were really friendly and explained any queries we had...the 2nd ..."visit, we sat again at the bar but in front of the chef at the grill watching his speed at negotiating the hot coals to cooking...great entertainment....highly recommend a visit

"So I've been pretty much dreamin' about this place since I returned from Spain. This is THE spot to come to if you want to try Jamon Iberico or Jamon de Serrano. ::drool:: Your STOMACH will thank you but your waistline sure WON'T.
My guy and I went here a few times when we were in central Madrid...." We had the bochadillos with cheese and some beers. This place is really great if you want to pop in for a quick snack OR get some food for later or the day after.
Very reasonably priced and the service is fast.
For those "non-Spanish" speakers, if you don't know what to pick, ask for the menu and there are pictures there to let you know what are your options.
You must go!!!
