"No visit to Newfoundland would be complete without a great meal of Fish-n-Chips. Ches's is a fixture in this city and does deliver on the promise. Large portions of fresh fish done to order with a huge side of great fries. They do all manner of sea food including fried cod tongues. There are 4 o..."r 5 locations around the city so one is never very far from where you might be staying. They have a Senior's menu with smaller portions that are still quite generous. Fish-n-
Chips with a side of slaw plus tea or coffee for about $11. Went there twice during a 5 night stay as it was reasonably priced for very good food. You have to be up for "fried" fish. They might do poached, steamed or grilled but I didn't ask.

"This Brew-Pub has the best Seafood Chowder in St. John's, Nfld. I recently visited for 5 nights and had Chowder almost everyday in a different place. The bowl here makes a whole meal with lots of fish and seafood - garnished with mussels in the shell. It is a typical pub but with the unique featu..."re of being able to see into the brewery. We visited twice during our stay and we watched them add hops etc to one of the vats. They have their own types of beer so that tasting also makes it well worth the visit.
