Had the 22 ounce ribeye that was highly recommended. It was a "B" at best. More marblier than normal. The flavor was good. Mash potatoes - just skip those. Very good service - sat at the bar and received excellent service despite the bartender being very very busy. One other note, tables are close together and thus, very noisy along... More

my wife and i relocated to atlanta from new york, great atmosphere, great food but our service was less than par. our server was arrogant and he perspired an awful lot, his name was patrick, he was not pleasant . when our entree arrived i was afraid to eat it, he perspired way to much and was a total turn... This old standby is a favorite when I drive into town for drinks w/friends. Grown-up crowd, nice pour for the price and pricey, but good food.

The best steak in Atlanta. Bones & Chops are great, Ruth Chris and Palm are close by but Hal's is the local place and it is better. Downstairs the sitting can be a little tight and it can be a little loud near the piano on busy nights especially if the session is in. Good wine list. Great service. I... More

We have been coming here for many years and Hal's delivers every time. If you can tolerate a loud atmosphere for the best steak in town then this is your place. They also had a lobster and crab appetizer which melted in your mouth. Their seafood is fresh and delicious. This dining experience has always been great for friends and... More

always elicits a declaration of "this is sooo good"! try the bone-in filet or the rib eye. fish and seafood apps excellent. sides large enough to share. dining area a bit dark; enclosed terrace nice unless outdoor temps extreme. don't let busy and smoky bar deter you - head upstairs for memorable dining in this neighborhood fav

Priced reasonably, fair wine list and steaks like no other in a city of steaks. It's a different vibe here, vibrant, very busy, sometimes too busy, but generally always attentive server. It's a local bar with great food, Hal is an institution, and as much as I like it, the smokers keep me from coming here more. Where you can... More

It's always packed so be sure to make a reservation! I am a local here and have enjoyed everything I've tried! Try the lobster macaroni and the bone in filet for sure! It's not for the dieting type bc like Hal says, "butter makes it better!" Go for happy hour and enjoy live music at the bar. Leave the kids... More

The morons allow smoking in doors!! And everyone offers excuses for allowing it - regardless of the fact that the second hand smoke is dangerous for patrons and employees alike, and ruins the dining experience.

A great "after work" bar for the perfect crowded beer or bourbon is where you start. Then you go to the classic white linen table clothes for an excellent steak house experience. Great service, excellent wine list, wonderful ambiance and simply great steaks. If you are closing a deal in Atlanta, take your clients here.
