Excellent, fresh food. Loved the calamari. Asked our waiter to suggest what we should order. He had only been there 2 days so he had another person come out and make suggestions for us - spot on. Highly recommend. My favorite was the Richmond roll.

We stopped in Richmond to visit some friends before heading to Williamsburg and my son wanted to go to this sushi place for lunch - we loved it so much we stopped on our way back from Williamsburg 5 days later! Of note, we arrived at 1:30pm, right at closing time, and the waitress still seated us - great service!

If you want quantity, go to Super King Buffet down the road. However, if you want better sushi, try here. I would definitely consider it cut above in the Richmond area. Other stuff such as tempora, teriyaki, and noodles are par for the course, nothing special. Decor is a bit tacky with blue Christmas lights. Worth a try.

As someone else mentioned, don't fuss about Umi being in a strip mall. You'll forget all about that once you go in and especially when your gorgeous plate of delicious sushi arrives! We ordered our usual sushi plates and splurged with a couple new combinations - all of which were delightful. We can't wait to go back!

Don't let the location in an upscale Short Pump strip mall fool you. This place is trendy and cool. Food is nothing short of wonderful. Experienced sushi diners will appreciate the wide selection.
