What an amazing restaurant! First, the view - Mt Agung in all it's glory. We were lucky enough to have a clear day so that we could see the entire outline of Mt Agung with fleeting clouds and with the rice paddies as a vista in the foreground. The food - scrumptious! We were served krupuk ( crackers of varied... More

We had planned to do a cooking class in Legian later in our holiday. We saw a recommendation for Bali Asli and decided to go their for lunch. I did a bit of research and when I saw photos of the location and read about Penny we decided that this was the place for a cooking class. After going to... More

I feel a bit guilty for not posting a glowing review of our village tour & cooking school experience from last year which we did enjoy so much. So here goes now.. the first part of the trek was pretty strenuous with uphill challenges ( wear comfy footwear) however you are rewarded with interesting village experiences and have your cameras... We ate at Bali Asli yesterday with friends, at the suggestion of our accommodation place. The first thing to come out was a unique drink with snake fruit, cloves, cinnamon and star anise and stirred with a sugar cane stick. Most of us wrote down the ingredients to try at home but with pear or quince as we can't get... More

Bali Asli is amazing and definitely worth the journey to get there. The whole package of the fishing experience, cooking and then eating was a highlight of our trip. Penny has really imbibed the Bali culture and tradition into her surroundings and you feel really at home in this secluded mountain location. We are inspired to get cooking Balinese style... More

I am a little late on my review but I wanted to review my girlfriend and my experience at Bali Asli. First, the owner (Penny) is awesome! She was incredibly from the getgo and was very timely in responding to all of my questions leading up to our cooking class and special tour. We signed up for one of the... More

It's quite hard to find this place, even for a person born in Bali like me. But once you get there you will be presented with one of the most wonderful view you can find in Bali. The food was cooked and presented perfectly and will suit foreigners' palate. For me it's just not spicy enough, but i still enjoy... More

Dear Ryuta, Thank you for your review. Im glad that you finally found Bali Asli! and that you thought it was well worth the trip! We try to create our dishes to suite as many different culture's pallets as possible. It may not be as spicy as you are used to at home, but Im sure the flavours where just... More

This place is run by an extremely capable young Australian woman (Penny) who purchased the land and built this amazing complex in the eastern part of Bali overlooking mountains, rainforests and rice fields. The food really is authentic Balinese, is very, very fresh and tasty and inspired by what Penny finds at the market each morning. The menu changes daily.... More
