During a weekday outing, we decided for lunch to try out Bistro Bethem, of which we had heard many good things. We were not disappointed at all. This is a great place. The decor, the waitstaff and food are all great. Did I mention that the decor, the waitstaff and food are all great? Decor: How cool is it that... More

My daughter and I met my Mom and sister for Mother's day in Fredricksburg for Mother's Day. This has become an annual tradition...well for the third year. I live in Newport News, my daughter is in school at VCU, and my mother lives in Front Royal so Fredricksburg is a good meeting spot. Each year we have tried a new... More

Sunday afternoon and Mother's Day made for a busy restaurant, my wife and I arrived early and sat at the bar while we waited for the others. My wife ordered a Mojito and I asked about the reds and was offered a Open Range Red that I enjoyed very much. Our party of six was seated towards the back of... More

We decided to take a leisurely trip to Fredericksburg from Alexandria for our anniversary, stopping to see Chatham Manor and driving around Fredericksburg before having dinner (easy to make reservations on line -- someone called back to confirm). Dinner was excellent. For appetizer I had a nicely presented avocado (ripe just right) topped with lump crab - little sea salt... More

Stopped for lunch at an outside table on early Saturday. Waiter Sean was very good--a step up from the usual local waiters--pleasant, quick, around but not in the way, bright, polite, attentive. For me, a bad waiter can ruin a meal. Menu was short but interesting. Healthy pour of wine--S.African Chard was very good. My wife had the salmon salad... More

This place is nice and cozy inside. The tables are set up so you do have some privacy. We started by ordering a couple of martinis. I asked for the bar liquor. I noticed when I got the bill, they used premium liquors and charged premium prices. I was not that hungry, so ordered the Ceasar Salad and Pizza, which... More

Went Sat. evening around 6 pm w/o reservation but was able to score a table w/o waiting. After we were seated, the place got busy and crowded in a hurry. The place seems to be a favorite among the locals. The service was attentive and very good overall and the wine selection was acceptable. Although the paintings on the walls... More

We ate here for dinner while staying in town. Had a lovely dinner, the gnocchi appetizer was wonderful and our main courses were great at well. Fun atmosphere and good service, would return if in the area again.

"Bistro Bethem" was a serendipitous find on a lunch detour into Fredericksburg. Ambiance is charming with some interesting artwork on the walls and fresh flowers on the tables. Employees are all friendly and the food definitely surpasses anything generic. Prices are quite reasonable for the creativity and quality.

Why eat at a chain restaurant when you travel? You can eat at them at home. Taking the advice from some locals five of us ate at Bistro Bethem. The service was good and the food well above average and certainly more unique than offer the menu at a chain restaurant. It's not a ten page menu, but it doesn't... More
