Herschel's Deli pastrami on rye sandwiches are simply the best I've ever had. The amount of meat the guys carve for one sandwich means my wife and I have to share one....no way could I eat a whole one. And the flavor of the meat is just wonderful. A truly satisfying eating experience.

Had our company's lunch catered by Hershel's East Side Deli and it was fantastic! The sandwiches were delicious and the portions were huge! Would Definitely recommend going there! Everything was fantastic!

I was with three other business men when we stumbled onto this place. We all ordered omelets. Wow, it was the best we ever had. I have a corn beef omelet and I was so happy. Large portions of very fresh meet and the taste was out of this world. Go here. Not very romantic but even the coffee was... More

Sorry....I had hopes but this was the worst sandwich I had while I was there. We left without finishing our meal.

This is our go to place every time we visit the Reading Terminal Market. We were lucky enough to have lunch here last week while visiting the flower show. As always, the very best corned beef sandwiches anywhere. On that fresh and delicious rye bread, with just a shmear of mustard . . corned beef piled hot and high .... More

Yes I read a lot of the other reviews raving about this place. Yes I know I will be the first "poor" rating. But I've eaten a lot of good corned beef sandwiches, and this place doesn't serve one. The experience is fun; young guys cutting meat to order, lots of action in a small place, kibbutzing while waiting in... More

Great deli in the middle of Reading Terminal Market. Had lunch with a friend from London at the counter - owner Steve Safron treated her to wonderful tastes of pastrami. She is a deli convert and we will definitely be coming back!

Don't waste your time going anywhere else for a Pastrami sandwich in Philly. Simply the best. Be prepared to wait during peak times though!

Had to survey a crowded Reading Market to find this gem but what a find. Had a pastrimi sandwich with knish and both were outstanding. The place is well organized, the line moves quickly and the food was the best we had in Philly. While we were not favorably impressed with the city, this was one reason to come back.... More

My husband and I go to Reading Market once monthly for fresh fish and meat. However, the primary reason for our trip is an excuse to eat at Hershel's Deli. We always ask which between the corn beef and pastrami is leaner and order accordingly. It is amazing how lean the meat is after being hand trimmed of all fat... More
