Description: Kokkari (pronounced “Ko-Kar-ee”) is a small fishing village located on the islands of Samos in the Aegean Sea, whose name is derived from the small onions that were once produced in the nearby fields. Its fertile soil and Mediterranean climate translated into an abundance of fresh produce as well as treasured seafood and game. Legend tells that Kokkari is the site where Orion, a mighty hunter and a young man of gigantic stature and great beauty, fell in love with the daughter of the king of Chios. For the love of her, Orion forged the island for wild game and seafood to prepare elaborate banquets in celebration of their love. Today, we hope you will enjoy your own celebration as you dine at Kokkari Estiatorio on food “fit for the Gods” prepared with an Aegean palate and the style of innovative California fare.

One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. I was there for a business meeting and we had a few drinks at the bar and then the best fish I've ever had.

We went there to celebrate our 6 year anniversary. The food was amazing! try the roasted lamb with potatoes, just delicious! The service was impeccable. Desert was also so good! and when the check came we saw that they didn't charge for desert! that was an anniversary gift! I LOVE THEM

We've eaten here several times now, and have never been disappointed. Prior visits we have sat in the back section of the restaurant, and have found it noisy when large boisterous parties are nearby. So this time I requested a table in the front room (made reservation over a month ago when we 1st planned our trip). It was much... More

Need reservations. I already had tapas elsewhere so only had appies. The fried cheese, calamari and flatbread- they were all tasty. Decor was good, service was excellent (friendly and knowledgeable). I will return

We dined at this restaurant both because we were looking for a menu with a slightly different slant and because of the overall strong reviews in TripAdvisor. While we rate our own experience as "very good", KE did not, in our minds, live up to its high ranking in these pages, thus our "mild disappointment". The restaurant is large and... More

this was our first time eating this cuisine and the waiter was awesome! Probably some of the best service we have had- we asked him to give us some sampling of what he thought was the best food --and man, he delivered! I can't even tell you what all we had, but EVERYTHING was excellent! The quality of the food... More

i was in San Francisco for a conference and did our annual wine-laden dinner with close friends from, literally, around the world at Kokarri ... i say Greek, they say Mediterranean, but regardless this spot is heaven ... we did just about every appetizer, the, i think, all had some version of lamb ... was totally flawless ... best lamb... Fabulous!! Special light 'tempura' batter baby fava beans were amazing. Stuffed calamari equally amazing. Grilled Branzino was excellent, as was the Mousaka. Greek grappa and coffee rounded out the meal. Service was top notch.
