Loved the local food options and walking distance from our time share. The restaurant is small, so I would suggest getting their early.

We stay at the Pono Kai as we are owners at that great resort and we always eat breakfast at least 3 times while we are here for the week every 2 years. Their fried rice is awesome!
My wife and I stopped here after trying some shave ice in Hanalei. We were hungry and hot and because the line was so long here, we thought it must be terrific. Terrific is not the word I would use to describe this cold treat. Maybe adequate, or average (or somewhat disappointing). Not sure why the line was long (the...

This place has some fans, but I am not sure why -- maybe the shave ice, which we didn't have? The restaurant was drab, dingy, and dirty. The food was just not very good (undercooked eggs, undercooked pancakes, over-steamed, gross veggies on the "Garden Patch"). Also -- and this is probably my fault -- the Garden Patch sounds vegetarian by...

If Ono is Hawaiian for good or delicious, this place had us wondering how you say "rude" or "yuck" in Hawaiian. The older woman who waited on us was so rude, we figured she must be part of the family that owns the place. Surely, no owner would put up with such a surly person waiting on customers. Apart from...

Restaurant is located in a very old sugar mill plantation style building. Small restaurant with big country atmosphere. Wait staff not as friendly or attentive as they should be, but efficient. Food was good and hearty and plenty of it. Prices a tad too high, but it IS Hawaii.
It was hot, and we wanted to cool off. We had shave ice while on Maui that was wonderful and wanted to have some more. It wasn't as good at this restaurant, because the other place had finer ice and used part actual coconut purée in their syrup. They also put the coconut ice cream on the bottom, which was...

Great breakfast food and good service. Prices are good for the amount of food you receive. Pick up visitor book on way in to find a coupon.
The Ono Family restaurant was right next to our condo, so we went there a couple of times. It was an average experience. Nothing fancy or special, but a solid breakfast. The service could have been a bit faster, and the prices a bit lower, but as we returned, it couldn't have been too outrageous.
The first time we went there, we were late and they were closing. Just as we were pulling out of the parking lot, the owner came to the car and apologized that we couldn't be served. BUT, he recommended a couple of other places along our route and gave us directions!
The next day we went back. The menu had...
