We had to be in Roanoke early one Saturday recently and had the chance to stop by Ernie's for breakfast again. We hadn't been back there for a few years. Nothing has changed. This place reminds me of being a kid again - going to town on Saturday mornings shopping with my mother and brother many long years ago. It... More

I eat here for breakfast quite often. The staff is friendly and the owner, Aimee is great! Breakfast here is a guilty pleasure :) You have to try the steak and cheese bagel...wow!

Ernie's sparked my interest because of the high marks it received on rating websites. My wife and I went on a busy Sunday morning and after a reasonable wait to get seated we ordered our meal. Little did I realize that the best thing on the menu would be the political parody. It took an inordinate amount of time for... More

This is a very nice local diner that makes you feel like you're family and a local too. The food was nicely prepared. The potatoe cake was a little bland and mushy in the middle, but the eggs were done very well. The coffee wasn't strong at all and was slightly bland as a result. Bacon was prepared nicely, but... Best breakfast ever! Local patrons, great service and for sure the best breakfast potatoes I have ever had anywhere. A Roanoake staple do not miss this one.

I have eaten at Ernies several times and the food is okay diner food but the place looks so dirty to me that I can't bring mysellf to go back. My husband likes to go but I won't accompany him.

Had a pretty nice breakfast here (the potato cakes were especially good). Service was good and the food came up pretty quick. The location is great (we were walking around the market street area) and our kids enjoyed the funky hand seats outside.

My mother and father venture into the cafe business before I was born and my father (the cook) brought his culinary skills to our kitchen. The home fries at Ernies are just like he would have done. Left over baked potato from the previous day, (not scraped from the dinner dishes) chopped and fried on the grill. Just like I... More

This place has two plastic chairs out front, both purple, so don't let that put you off, this place is busy for Lunch, they are the best place in the downtown core for a quick bite. Not open after 2pm.

My family and aunt stopped by Horizon's Sunday for brunch, what a pleasure. The place was busy, but not so much as not be seated immediately. The waitress was great, the service quick and the food was excellent. The place was very nice on the inside, old style charm and nice views of the outside. Brunch prices were very reasonable... More
