Holy Cow. After spending the prior weekend eating our way across NYC, we were totally blindsided by Empire Little Bar! This little place nestled under the Tazewell Hotel serves up a great variety of Asian-Cajun (right?) fusion tapas that will take your palate on an interesting tour of a wide variety of flavors. Plates were around $5-$6 each, (which is... More

First off, this is a very, very small bar and it gets crowded quickly. The apps are fantastic and they rotate- I've had a few things off the menu (mac and cheese quite often) and it's consistently good. They don't have a bathroom, though- you have to cut through and go to the hotel next door. (I haven't been there... More

My husband and I ate at Empire once. The only reason we haven't gone back is the ambiance. I've been there before for a cocktail and it was summertime and it was absolutely freezing in there. When we went to eat there, it was winter and, again, freezing...to the point of uncomfortable. The only thing that gives this place a... More

My colleagues and I decided to go in after the verbal recommendation from someone down the street. This bar is small but it had a good atmosphere and people unlike the other places. Also this is adjacent to a hotel. Me colleagues and I grab some seats at the bar and waited for the bartender for approx 10 minutes since... More

Get there early since space is limited. We loved the seared steak and the lobster dishes. An extra treat was the potatoe salad, spinach, and fruit combination. The Bistro offered a large variety of adult beverages, we chose the wine, Dr. Loosen.

This is my favorite restaurant downtown. Come early, though. Until they move, they're a small restaurant with only a few tables that fill up fast. The menu changes periodically, so you get a good variety. Nearly everything I've had here is excellent. The wine selection is pretty good. Service can be a little detached as the (typically) single waiter juggles... More

My wife and I frequent this great restaurant when in Norfolk. We enjoy the feel of a relatively small bistro where you can see the chefs in action and enjoy a good selection of beer and spirits. The small plates never disappoint and allow you to enjoy a variety of dishes that are prepared with care. We've been going there... More

I wanted to get drinks and a little bite before going to a concert downtown and I was pleasantly surprised by this place! They have an interesting cocktail menu and the waitor was very knowledgeable about the drink selection. Our table ordered about 7 different tapas and they were all delicious. One of my friends who I was dining with... More

On business in Norfolk with a small group, we quickly decided that this was our favorite restaurant in town; we had dinner there three times. The roasted vegetable salad is SO good, and the Petit Filet is just perfect for the smaller appetite; I ordered both all 3 times. We had the same waiter on our first two visits, and... More

A great little bar if you like craft beer, outstanding food (generous 'small plates', ideally sized in my view), and exceptional cocktails. Service was very friendly and attentive. I wish I could take this place with me and transplant it in my neighborhood!
