First off I booked a table of 27 for my birthday lunch. $45 per person for a 2 course meal, sounded great. Previously been to this venue years ago it had great food and great service. So a few days before my lunch i had a few cancellations so i rang Mt Rael and asked for a table of 23... More

Our group had lunch on a Sunday and were annoyed that when we booked, were not informed of the 10% surcharge. I can honestly say, that I felt like finding somewhere else to eat because of the unfriendly greeting we received upon entering. (We were on time). I agree, the host (or maybe the owner) in his late 40's was... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mount Rael on 27th April 2013, the Zar room was perfect, with magnificent 180 degree view of the Healsville & surrounding mountains, that could be seen from the bedroom as well as a perfect size spa bath. I found the menu slightly confusing, but could not fault the food, wine list or the service... More

We attended due a family members birthday and were referred by someone else. First off I must say, the food is OK. Not amazing, not horrible but certainly not worth the $40 per person and 10% surcharge for a sunday??? After we made our way up the roller coaster, unpaved, stone bouncing and chip causing driveway We were 'greeted' (i... More

Drive up a steep and winding unmade drive, walk through a simple entrance and come into an elevated restaurant with the most fantastic view over Healesville and valley, with mountainous backdrop. Stunning and envigorating. Food and service was excellent. The only shortcoming was that there was a $5 per head surcharge because we were a group of 16 (for Sunday... More

We were here for lunch as part of the Melbourne food & wine festival - so, 2 courses, glass of wine, tea/coffee, for $40, or 3 courses for $50. Staff were attentive - a bit too much at times - until they got busy with other customers. We had heirloom tomatoes on a black sesame seed paste, labna and basil... More

As others have said , the views are outstanding. Unfortunately , the menu and service were fairly average. For the price I expected a little bit better. The view from the deck was specacular but was spoiled by warped decking, faded timber stains and tired accessories. What probably didnt help was the accommodation on site , which also needed attention...as... More

My husband and I went here on a long weekend, when there was a special set menu. However the pricing was incredibly missleading. Printed in bold it stated $40 for two courses and $50 for 3 courses - now that all sounds fine and reasonable - until we received the bill and there was a surcharge of $10 ea for... More

The scenery and atmosphere was spectacular. Service took 1.5 for entre and 1 hour for each serving main and desert. So hungry afterwards, got a coffee and cake in Healesville. $40 for meal with surcharge for weekends (see small print). If you want anything other than the protein for the main meal it was extra. Ordered chips to keep us... More

Mt Rael offers magnificent views, superb food, and great service - all at a very reasonable price. Despite being a very hot day, we sat on the balcony and enjoyed the breeze over a leisurely lunch. You can have 2 courses for $40 or 3 courses for $50. They also offer a good selection of wines at reasonable prices. Everything... More
