I hadn't been back to Bistro Moncur for a long time. Sometimes you overlook this restaurant if you are no longer in the area, but it is consistent as ever! The staff are accommodating and the service just right. The old favourites of cheese soufflé and crab omelette are still sensational and I love the idea of a lunch menu... More

Sensational French food prepared and presented perfectly in a beautiful and buzzing restaurant. The menu is impressive, though hard to just pick one thing you want as it all looks so damn good. I went for the French onion souffle gratin which definitely had the envy of the table after they had all tried mine. This was followed by the... More

We were visiting Sydney from Canada and found this recommendation in a guide book. Off the beaten tourist trail in a beautiful residential neighbourhood. We had a couple of steaks (tenderloin and sirloin); both excellent, each with their own sauce. French fries were lovely and crisp. Side order of green beans with hazelnuts complemented the mains nicely. Killer bottle of... More

We went to Sunday lunch(19/5/2013) as this was our favourite when we lived in Sydney. Nothing has really changed. The food was supurb and the service would be second to none. I know "tourists" try the usual "famous" restaurants in Sydney possibly for the views etc but if you want a warm and wonderful experience try this one. A lot... More

We've dined here a few times now...mainly before a rugby game as it's a comfortable walk to the stadium (walk off the calories) and they are receptive to the need for an efficient, timely service so that you can get to the game on time. Service on the last occasion was a bit disappointing - the wait staff appeared to... More

Lunch for three on Friday with all the trimmings, but what we received was snooty, disinterested and slow. Food was unremarkable. Why would you bother when there's so many decent places to go?

One of the most beloved watering holes for the blue bloods and property spivs of Sydney's Eastern suburbs. Established for 20+ years this restaurant offers high quality, delicious, reliable French bistro cuisine in a noisy and enthusiastic atmosphere. Stand-out dishes include the sauvignon blanc marinated salmon, and the cafe de paris steak. Attentive service, but alas no bookings, so expect... More

Bistro Moncur cam highly recommended by friends who'd lived nearby, and based on the food alone, it wasn't the worst of recommendations. Decent piece of barramundi, couple of good steaks, and some lovely wine combined for pleasant fare, albeit not quite deserving of the prices charged. But the food was of no consequence in light of staggeringly bad service -... More

Bistro Moncur always good and reliable, but had to wait an inordinate amount of time for our main meals, nearly an hour after entree's. They had clearly forgotten our order and were quite apologetic, but no offer of a free glass of wine or complimentary desert. Still the food was delicious and consistent. Still arrive early to secure a table,... More
