We stayed at the French Quarter Inn, around the corner, and longingly looked into the dark bakery, which closes mid afternoons. The next day, we got yummy BLTs to go, to take to the Magnolia Plantation. Their decadent specialty is the Bacon-Bourbon pecan pie, which is topped with slices of bacon! During a week full of delicious mouthfuls, it is... More

The staff was very nice, they move lots of people in and out. I had a saucer of Gluten Free Gravy that was good but not 4.50 good. The pastry chef indicated next time if I called she would make a GF dessert I could eat. Very nice. A good place, the tea was very good, close to Mavericks Cooks... More

The building was plain and nondescript on the outside and inside but the food was really tasty and delicious. We went for lunch midweek before noon and it was already crowded and they were already out of some of the vegetable selections. I had a vegetable plate (I wanted sweet potato souffle but it was already all gone) and my... More

If you don't know where the Dixie Cafe is you would have to stumble upon it. It's a block to the south of popular Market Street and just west of East Bay St. and has a most unpretentious look. It includes a bakery, great breakfasts and lunches. Seating is both inside and outside at this small eatery but the place... More

We were told we had to try this place but were doubtful. Nessled in next to a mini mart, it didn't look promising. However, the breakfast was fantastic. The line was out the door waiting to order. We all tried the banana bread french toast (yum!), the eggs, the sausage, the pecan pancakes and the omlets were all excellent. The... More

Enjoyed the food but the service was very slow. They said that a group of 12 slowed the kitchen down. That tells you how small this place is. I had the tomato pie which was good but I've had better. My wife had the shrimp and grits which was very good. The stone ground grits were yummy. If you are... More

We went there for breakfast because of DDD recommendation and were not disappointed. We both had bacon, eggs, home fries, biscuit and coffee and all were perfect. Limited seating but efficient service moves people quickly. Wish we were there during lunch as I would love to try the bacon pecan pie and more.

I was going to order a burger melt and then I noticed a shrimp BL fried green tomato sandwich coming out of the kitchen, changed my order and was more than pleased that I did. We originally gave Dixie Supply Bakery and Cafe a try after seeing them on Diners, Drive In and Dives just wished I had left room... More

Loved this little hole-inthe-wall joint! My daughter wouldn't let me leave Charleston without trying the tomato pie, and I'm so glad we were able to fit it in! We shared one serving, (could easily have gobbled down my own) and each had a cup of tea from the Charleston tea plantation. The cashier was friendly and helpful. I recommend giving... More

A fun local place to grab great breakfast! The egg, ham and cheese sandwich was amazing and a great value. They do run out of things quickly, so go early if you want something in particular. They also have very limited seating, so you might need to get your food to-go and find somewhere else to eat.
