They have permanent offerings such as strawberry with cracked pepper. Had that with a honey lemon ricotta. Both were fabulous. They are patient while you taste anything you wish.

We waited about 40 minutes in line, on a Tuesday night, and are glad we stuck with it. While you're waiting, they come around and let you try a few flavors before deciding what you want. This was the creamiest, freshest ice cream I've ever had. My husband had the Sea Salt ice cream w/ caramel ribbon. It was mind...

I walked to Salt & Straw from downtown. It was a pleasant walk and the ice cream was delicious. They have about 10-15 interesting flavor options. It was not the traditional list. Very good!
Went here on a whim with my brother and his family. Love the unique combinations of the favors they put together. Strawberry balsamic vinegar with cracked black pepper was yummy.
The Alberta Arts District was such a blast--even an impromptu performance art/music piece involving free quesadillas right across the street from this place--but Salt and Straw put it over the top. Truly outstanding ice cream, generous samples and friendly people. You won't go wrong with the salted caramel ribbons flavor. Waffle cones made on the spot are crowd pleasers. I...

I've had ice cream and gelato pretty much around the world, and none of it exceeded the incredible flavors concocted here.
I used to think Lapperts Ice Cream in Hawaii was the best ice cream ever, but they went downhill in quality directly in proportion to their prices going up. I can't believe fellow reviewers were griping about prices here!...

They definitely have different flavors, but they tasted great!!! Don't let the mix of ingredients scare you away, plus they are very willing to give you a sample.
Though there was a long line, it gave me the time to admire the kitschy decor and people-watch the hip and hipsters of Portland. Once you get towards the front of the line friendly servers offer you however many samples you want. (and they mean it too!) This was the best part - they have so many strange flavors that...

Salt and Straw has some amazingly delicious and unique flavors. We tasted several including the Sea Salt and Caramel Ribbons and Pear and Blue Cheese which were both delicious and worth getting next time. We decided on the Cinnamon Snickerdoodle (with snickerdoodles baked at Salt and Straw), the Strawberry Balsamic with Black Pepper which tasted like strawberry jam and then...

Visited the NE Alberta location while visiting Portland and it was a chilly evening but the winding line out the door suggested that it was worth eating ice cream for dessert although it was cold outside. Was not disappointed by the Cinnamon and Snickerdoodle, daughter enjoyed the Chocolate with Gooey Brownie Chunks, and wife had the Vanilla. I wouldn't mind...
