Don't miss the Lørdags Beef, for 149 kr you get very good beef and sides. IWe did not try the main restaurant heard that their food is excellent too.
I have had the pleasure to visit this restaurant two times within the same week - and I had the rare experience of two exquisite meals. The restaurant is placed within walking distance of "down town" Longyearbyen in what looks like a former public building. The decoration is rather old-fashioned - but nice to spend an evening in. The staff... More
Longyearbuyen is probably one of the most unlikely places on earth where you would expect a world class restaurant. But really, that's exactly what Huset is. Very inventive and creative cooking, fine ingredients, top wines (they've got 22.000 bottles in the cellar). Great service too.
I will not try to write a review like I'm working for the Michelin guide, I dont have the right skills to do that. But I can tell you its a lovely experience and the wine cellar are one of the richest in whole Norway - who could believe that! The wine cellar is worth around 20 million norwegian kroner.... More
May 17 dinner 2013, we had the Arctic 6 course dinner with wine. Interesting combinations and presented in an attractive way. Not quite guide Michelin quality. What was lackin was attention to temperature in the palette that was served on the plate. If you decide to eat here, great choice. Ask to see the wine cellar, this is the place... More
Worth a visit great vine cellar with comprehensive selection and knowledgeable waiters. Food could be more creative fun has a good crowd of visitors.
We were advised to walk there from the town with the words: "don't overshoot because a polar bear might get you but you're just about safe to Huset". We walked up there in minus 15 and it took 20 minutes which made it extra special to be greeted by name as well as a blast of warm air. We had... More
Huset is one of the best restaurants I've visited. Great food, even greater wines, a gorgeous view of the mountains, great atmosphere. I've been here twice and it has been a real treat. A must when in Longyearbyen.
Huset is a bit of a gimmick - you'll really only go here once and it's predominantly for the tourists, not the locals. They offer a changing set menu which features local fare like reindeer or sometimes seal or whale. The restaurant is very cosy and the presentation and service of the food is very good. I wouldn't quite say... More
