We stayed in the hotel here for a few days. We arrived at 9:30 pm at night and they were still open and they served us. If you know Mahahual you know how unusual to have anything open after the cruise boats pull away at 5pm. They open for breakfast and were willing to fix it early for us before... More

This is a nice setting, right on the beach or inside the open air dining area, but attention from the service staff is slow when you first arrive. Ordering drinks and food takes a while, so don't go when you're really thirsty! Once you have placed your food order, though, it comes quickly and is tasty.

We were on a cruise and stopped at Costa Maya. We were looking for a beach to relax on, a cabbie recommended Hotel 40 canones. What a find! the beach was a beautiful while sand beach with plenty of chaise lounges, tiki huts with tables and chairs, beach cabana beds ( all free) We arrived and were greeted by Johnny,... More

Before arriving in costa maya (from Norwegian Star) I read hundreds of reviews and tried to pick the best beach and restaurant to host our "beach fun day!!" After the rave reviews of Nohoch and Pez Quadro I was stuck. I couldnt choose between the two until one reviewer convinced me Pez Quadro will not disapoint. Upon arrival, we caught... More

Pez Quadro is definitely the best food on the beach. After eating at various restaurants in Mahahual and Costa Maya, we have settled on Pez Quadro at 40 Cannons. We usually get the day pass, so we are munching on Nachos all day long. The Pico de Gallo must be me made the very minute you order it because of... More

We had a a stop in Costa Maya on our recent Carnival Cruise (Dream) and had the pleasure of meeting Francisco on our excursion "Salsa and Salsa". We made FRESH homemade salsa and ate it with the most amazing tortilla's and then Francisco taught us how to Salsa Dance. It was so much fun and my 11 & 5 year... More

This was our first port of call on the Norwegian Star. We just wanted a place to sit in the sun, on a beach and be able to get back to the ship on time before it sailed to our next port. Costa Maya is a manmade port with many touristy shops to spend your money at.It doesnt seem like... More
