Tortugas Lie was recommended by a local OBXer so we tried it. Popular with locals, very good food and service, busy bar scene. Glad we dined there but don't go if you don't like noise!

The food is consistently good, with a menu that has been changed little over the 20 years we have been going. Always a good special of the day, a good soup of the day and always a very special salad special topped with fish - although very much a bar, it is the most family friendly bar one will encounter....

I've been coming to the Outer Banks for close to 20 years, and since my friends beach house is right down the street I've been eating at Tortugas for most of that time. Always love the "Bite of the Day" appetizer, that dipping sauce is great.
After seeing the show on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives I decided to try...

Rented a cottage near Tortuga's, and braved the super-crowded parking lot one day to wait for a lunch table. Glad we did, because the food was creative and very enjoyable. Perhaps going at an off-time would be advisable, but whenever you end up dining, the food won't let you down.
We wanted to try this as it is well-rated, parking lot always full and featured on Triple D....it's a 'dive' in the sense of a bar with tables, lots of funny old vehicle license plates, good reggae playing... very nice menu and we had trouble choosing. I got the special - an oyster po' boy sandwich w/fries and cole slaw;...

I have to say we will definitely be back! The service was very good and the food was awesome! My daughter heard about it from several different people and that it was featured on Diners Dives and Drive ins, and since we were in Nags Head it was a must. Just wish we had gone there again while we were...

Had to try this for myself, it was on Diners, Dives and Drive Ins. We went yesterday for lunch, I had a delicious fresh Mahi Mahi sandwich, with goat cheese, strawberries, lettuce, tomato and of course I had to have jalapeno peppers added. It was delicious. Definitely will go back.
Tortugas' Lie is a very small, old Outer Banks style restuarant that has survived for many years. A large portion of the Menu is Jamaican style cooking, prepared precisely as you would expect with outtanding flavors.. Quality and value is excellent, as is the service. A definite locals scene. Seating is limited, as is seating at the bar. This a...

Been going to Tortugas' Lie for quite awhile now. Our family loves going there to grab a good bite away from all the huge vacation families that frequent other restaurants. This would certainly be more of a locals scene, but they are very welcoming of tourists and outta towners. The Conch Fritters and Carib Burger are some of my favorite....

Great little local's bar/grill. Their habanero sauce is sold in the local grocery stores it is so good! Love the Habanero Burger, and the fries are some of the very best I have ever eaten. Defintely a place to add to your "don't miss" list!
