This is a very cool old style soda fountain with a great owner. The ice cream was fantastic. Please note if you are looking for anything other than ice cream / shake / malt - then this is not the place. Other menu consists of chips, hot dog, grilled cheese. No real cooking and no grill.

I stopped by Mt. Airy during a trip to the Stone Mountain State Park. I decided to stop at the Mayberry Soda Fountain for some ice cream. I had tried it before during the Autumn Leaves festival in October. The place was packed at that time, but, even so, the service was pretty good. So good, that it impressed me... More

Me, my wife, and my little girl took a Sunday day trip up to Mount Airy to see Mayberry on 2/24/13. We were disappointed that Trio's was closed but as the owner of the Mayberry Soda Shop told us that on Sundays they pretty much roll up the side walks in Mount Airy. The feeling you get when you walk... More

This is an original soda fountain that brings back good old fashioned memories. I had a pineapple soda and my husband had a banana split. Definitely tasted great & good prices also. Wall opposite the soda fountain used to be the drug store & if you walk over and look carefully, you can see different words painted over--such as the... More

My daughter (16) and I stopped in for a mid afternoon break from sight seeing and it was fantastic. My daughter had the ice cream and I had an old fashioned egg cream. Both were fantastic and not over priced. The service was exceptional and friendly. I highly recommend that if you are in the area you stop by for... More

The other positive reviews about this place are highly accurate. My wife and I stopped for a mid afternoon snack on a Saturday in mid November. The atmosphere is just what we envisioned a soda shop to be. We split a chocolate milk shake that was so thick that spoons were needed and was so large that the single shake... More

it was like going back in time with the decor, music and the menu items. We had ice cream sodas and just set there and took in the atmosphere. Would definitely go there again.
