I used to love going to the Chowder Pot Pub but it is no longer in existence. Such a shame that it went out of business. The outside dining was so nice.
The food was overcooked and cold when it finally arrived at our table, the waiter was not very helpful in either suggestions or substitutions (which apparently aren't allowed in any of the meals). I wouldn't go back, nor would I recommend this place to a stranger who asked for directions here.
...you may want to go elsewhere. First off, the iced tea tasted strongly of coffee. Our food took longer than expected to arrive and once there, was terribly dissapointing. A $17 Ceasar salad featured rubbery, overcooked shrimp that were far too salty. The dressing tasted store-bought. Sercice was slow, at best. This was not the lunch I expected for the... More
We went twice on our recent visit to the North Fork! The food and service was excellent! The first night we ordered the lobster bake....very good and filling! I also ordered the NE Clam Chowder which was amazing! The 2nd time we went we ordered the prime rib special....very big and delicious. Nice casual place on the water overlooking a... More
Several booths inside and warm nautical atmosphere. Service fast and friendly. Food good but not great. Chowder was a bit salty. If you expect a decent meal at a reasonable price you won't be disappointed.
The Chowder Pot was my first glance into Greenport's dining & I'm glad I didn't get back on the train, afterward! The New England clam chowder was congealed, the potatoes mushy, and the clams barely noticeable. On a Friday at 1pm, the soup should've been in much better shape. The wings were decent & a large enough serving, but the... More

Previous reviews have criticized the service. Based on my visit during a slow-to-moderate Sunday evening in July, I'd agree that the servers are young and perhaps not well trained ... but pleasant enough. My waiter was fairly efficient. The meal itself, though, can only be called "disappointing." A restaurant with this name should presumably make chowder a specialty ... but... More
Our waitress was actually pretty good. Our main problem was that the food was flavorless, unimaginative and over-cooked. The fried-calamari was raw, the main course seafood was so bland and portions were small. The vegetables tasted liked they had been sitting in a steam tray of oil all day, however the french fries were ok. I could imagine this would... More
As a visitor to Shelter Island, I have seen this place for the past 10 yrs and decided to finally try it. We walked in at 445pm and only 1 couple were in the establshment. We were greeted and sat immediatly. So far, so good. After a few minutes, the server (ashley) asked us what to drink and we ordered... More
