we attended a chefs tasting last week to promote the new menu and it was fantastic!! it was also fun to grade every item the chef sent out, and there were about 15 new items...i also really like the ambiance, it is downstairs and feels like a club.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was empty, literally 2 tables filled so we got great service. They have good lunch specials for about $10 which is a pretty good deal. Spent many years traveling through Asia and lived in Japan for several years too so Elaine's decor brought back many memories. Our party ordered some of the exotic beers and were not disappointed. This place has great decor. A broad menu and good food. The problem is you can get equal or better within a few blocks for better prices.
We ended up ordering out from Elaine's the night of the noreaster. The food was delicious. It was not overly salty and it was fresh. The food was packed well so things stayed hot and didn't spill. Would like to actually sit in restaurant and have dinner one nights.
Elaine's has been a favorite for years and the food is always consistent and delicious. The atmosphere is beautiful with a sunken sushi room, cozy bar and great service. The menu is extensive with excellent sushi, asian favorites and daily specials. The price fixe menus are a great deal. Love the lychee martinis!
No fancy word descriptions can do it justice. This is a CONSISTENTLY excellent restaurant. Chinese, Thai, Japanese, & American dishes. Must try. Too many copycats around. This place is real.
The food just isn't that good. The owner is there and friendly but we wonder why the food isn't better. Disappointing.
Ultra-hip subterranean decor at Elaine’s has the wow factor, but the wonderful food will keep you coming back. Sushi is fresh, traditional choices like Kung Bao and Kani Salad are also excellent and beautifully plated. The Salmon Festival (4 pieces of salmon sushi, 4 pieces of salmon sashimi, a roll of spicy salmon sushi and seaweed salad) is value priced!...
