Hands down the best full vegetarian restaurant in Taos. If you like hummus or falafels...this is the place
Good looking ,funky environment ,great room in the back for kids to play or escape .Free pool table also , very much a place with family in mind .Nervous and clumsy service was notable , though certainly well-meaning and polite .One bathroom stall only for the entire restaurant made for a very uncomfortable visit .One wonders how that can be...

I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at El Gamal. It is a wonderful alternative to many of Taos' restaurants that promise a great menu, but in reality serve rather mediocre high-priced food. I wish my friends and I had skipped the over-priced, under-whelming Easter brunch offerings at nearby Graham's Grille, and had returned to El...

Just had lunch at this very plain jane WONDERFUL restaurant. The place is right behind the plaza in a home. There isn't much to say about the exterior or interior, just forget that & open your mind & taste to the AWESOME food. I had a cup of the red lentil soup with feta to start with, yummy. We also...

I like to walk to this place on mornings that I am visiting Taos. The breakfasts here are quite good, well prepared, fresh and not boring. The place is behind the Plaza on the west. It is a smaller eclectic place with the food mostly middle eastern. A great place to try some new things and support a small locally owned...

We eat out in Taos at least 20 times a year and had been wanting to try El Gamal for some time. Finally got in there and what a treat. I love meat but didn't miss it at El Gamal. The soups of the day are excellent served with wonderful on-site baked bread. The wait staff was informed and helpful...

I've been eating at El Gamal ever since they opened their business out of a truck at the Overland compound. They have freshly made Middle-Eastern food which leans towards Israeli. I love love love the Hummus-it's even better than the one I made. I think they use better tahini! They make their own pita and bagels, and on Fridays at...

My wife and I have been to Taos many times, and with each visit, El Gamal is on our must list of places to eat. To all die hard meat eaters (which I am one), the food is excellent, though it is a vegetarian restaurant. From the fresh and delicious hummus and daily baked pita bread, to fresh soups, to...

We arrived in Taos after driving the high road from Santa Fe. We just happened to park across the street from El Gamal - and were hungry. So we took a quick peek at the menu and went inside. What a wonderful surpise. Delightful food and service, wonderful vegetarian/Middle Eastern food. Even the non-vegetarians among our group were happy.
We wandered into El Gamal looking for breakfast near the Plaza. It's Middle Eastern and vegetarian food, but we non-vegetarians found a good breakfast sandwich, an organic-egg omelet and coffee that were very good. Glad we tried it!
