Description: La Fontana Del Mare was first opened in 1998 by Bujar Daku, the head chef and Fausto Berardi. It is a landmark restaurant, only a block away in small town Strathmere (midway between Sea Isle City and Ocean City). It is a place where diners by the sea can get a splendid taste of Italian from the City of Brotherly Love in a round-about way. The restaurant offers adjusted menus for all kind of diets, therefore making the place open to everyone. We are also accessible to those with disabilities fulfilling the ADA requirements.

I made reservations and still had to wait over an hour and a half...watched folks who just drove in get seated right away. My very agitated husband went to the hostess stand and made a stink. We got seated and felt terribly for the waiter who had to deal with an angry mob - and it wasn't just our table.... More

Living only a couple miles away, I was hoping to like La Fontana. Unfortunately, my first experience was disappointing. Nice atmosphere, efficient service, attentive waiter, but overall average food and definitely overpriced. The best of our four dishes was some melt in your mouth gnocchi. But $23.95 for a bowl of pasta. I was dissapointed when the grilled calamari were... More

Short of a trip to Sorrento you have to try this restaurant and bring your own vino to understand why it's fully booked all the time. Superb veal and seafood...I loved it! great skilled service and ricotta cheesecake to die for! Run don't walk...they will find a table for you. I went twice in three days!

Excellent flavors. I had the rigatoni with lobster tail, crab meat and scallops. I thought it was excellent. The bread could be better but the main courses were all very good. I will come back, for sure.

La Fontana is an annual stop for us when we are on vacation in Ocean City. This year, we were not as impressed as previous years. Dinner was good, but something was missing....the service was not quite up to last year, the antipasto was not on par, and my wife's gnocchi was bland...my dinner was okay, but it was obvious... What can you say I eat at 2 of the fine establishments and never had a hitch. Food quality and preparation is the finest on the south jersey coast. Service is the top of the chain with professional folks running the show. Eat here or in Sea isle it does not matter you will giggle at the fine food and... More

We live in the southend of OC. Strathmere has only a few restaurants, and quite frankly, none of them rock my boat. We haven't dined here in AGES - but everyone was moderately to very happy with their meal. Albeit expensive ($220 w/tip for 4) the service was good and the food was fresh. My only complaint is that the... More

The food isn't good enough, the ambience is terrible, the acoustics are awful and this noisy little restaurant just isn't worth the wait anymore. I live locally and have frequented La Fontana for years...that ended last night. Last week our 7:30 reservation allowed us to sit in their parking lot for an hour before we were seated. I ordered Chicken... More

No matter when your reservation is, you always wait out on the sidewalk for a while. Then you go in and work your way through the crowd and get jammed into a table back in the corner. The friendly waiter comes out and you yell your order at him and you get a lot of food in a while -... More

My family dined here in Sept. 09 and Sept. 2010 and thought the food was great. This was not the case when we visited on Sept. 12, 2011. All three times, I ordered the chicken parm, and this time it was horrible. The plate came out entirely covered in sauce, not a problem for me, and globs of cheese, again... More
