Staying in Boston and met a friend from Portland area. Ambiance was quiet, pace was unhurried due to astute and patient waitress. Lobster roll on a croissant was sinful, well balanced with a light side salad. Entire experience was so great that the second week of my Boston visit I scheduled a repeat and couldn't wait - this time pairing... More

We stopped in for an early lunch and loved it. The wine list was first rate and the wait staff terrific. Our waitress even gave us suggestions about renting or buying property in the area which turned out to be spot on when we talked with realtors. Try the scallops--excellent.

We had 6pm reservations on the Saturday before Easter. We were the only people in the dining room until almost 7:00. Very quiet and relaxing after the lively place we'd gone the night before. I had broiled scallops (4) with risotto. Both were cooked perfectly and were delicious. My husband had the rib eye and rated it a 5. Roasted... More

Had a great meal at Rudi's on a relatively slow Saturday night in the dining room. The ribeye and the rack of NZ lamb were great. How can you not love a place that serves hash as a side dish for a steak? Only complaint was that it's a little noisy because there's no separation from the very active wine... More

The atmosphere at Rudi's is perfect for a brunch. The two jazz musicians were a delight. Food and service were excellent. We can't wait to go back.

Rudi's being right outside the back entrance of the parking deck, is the perfect meeting place with friends for cocktails before dinner (regardless where you are eating in town) With 2 huge fun bars, entertainment and high tops in the rear bar, couches and wing back chairs in the front bar... does it get any cozier? The cocktails are all... More

When we lived in Boston, we enjoyed spending Sunday morning brunch and jazz. Those are hard combinations to find now. It's a great treat to find them again and in Portsmouth. We enjoy the high bar tables and stools near the windows. Good healthy choice of breakfast options, wonderful staff - all behind a backdrop of excellent jazz. They have... More

Rudi's is tucked in a back street in Portsmouth, so the view is not a reason to go there. But we enjoyed our lunches, and we enjoyed dining in the lounge area. We each had a salad, adding shrimp to one and salmon to the other. Perfectly fine. Service was pleasant and professional.

We spent a weekend up in Portsmouth to celebrate our wedding anniversary and Rudi's was where we dined our first night. The restaurant's décor is very classy and contemporary but not stuffy. We made sure to make reservations before going and we were glad we did because it was very busy and for good reason. The wine list was impressive... More
