Tucked away in an unassuming shopping plaza, this place dished out some great breakfast. It's everything you'd want out of a breakfast spot. Quick service, big menu with all the typical options plus a few house specialties (breakfast bowls were delicious) and cheap! It was very good, worth the stop if you're in town

We go to Cafe Espresso at least twice a month. It has free parking, good food, pleasant service, and reasonable prices. We've been there for breakfast, lunch, and just a cuppa tea. Consistency pays off for them. Last month we held a small function there for 10 people. Everyone was well fed, full, complimentary, and happy. Great service that day... More

Cafe Espresso has the best breakfast in town. It has specials that suit whatever breakfast hankering you have. Although the service can be inconsistant, they seem well-meaning and just busy.

The menu is an adventure in great combinations of food! The place has a constant flow of guest, which is a good indication of great food! They are right. Healthy portions, prepared and presented well made the visit well worth it. I would highly recommend this hidden gem.

We stopped for a pre-ordered lunch on a bus tour and Cafe Espresso fell very short of the mark. Our table was sticky yet wait staff did not clean it for us when we brought it to her attention. The high point was the soup which was absolutely delicious! However, the main courses were poorly done. The salmon had no... More

An awesome twist on Eggs Benedict - with thick bacon and housemade guacamole on English muffin, topped with poached eggs and chipotle hollandaise! YUM!

Cafe Espresso is located in a small shopping plaza about a mile from historic downtown Portsmouth. Due to its' location in a small shopping plaza, parking is always a breeze. Cafe Espresso offers breakfasts and lunches. I have been there about 10 times and always had a flavorful meal. However, I have been to Cafe Espresso more for breakfasts then... More

Dad talked me into this place over going to Popovers in Market Square. I'm always up for something new so away we went. The restaurant is clean and the wait staff was buzzing around. It was a very busy Labor Day morning, but we didn't wait very long before we were seated, or before our meal was ready. My son... More

We live in the greater Portsmouth area and stop by Cafe Espresso quite frequently. The waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. The Kahve & Green Mountain coffees are always hot & fresh! The cooks do an amazing job! We often get the 2 Eggs With and our eggs are always hot and cooked to perfection! We Love this restaurant and... More

If you think about the name of this restaurant (Cafe espresso) you are instantly disappointed, when you enter. I was expecting cozy, warm and maybe touch of italian feeling to this restaurant, but it is just big open space with regular cafeteria tables and booths all around the place. The biggest disappointment, however, was the food. Very greasy eggs, potatoes... More
