This was our first time dining at Agave, and although it wasn't "bad", we will probably go to one of the other local restaurants. We got reservations for 12:30pm for our party of 6, and were seated upstairs. There were plenty of vacant tables at that time, but they quickly filled up as we were dining. The service was good,... Agave recently expanded and is usually busy because they reliably have good Mexican food, which is rare in the Boston area. Portions are large, the salsa is excellent, the fresh chips are excellent. Restaurant has a fun bar and three floors with good view of the old town. The usual staples like tacos are awesome and they have a fairly... More

They expanded and the room is beautiful. We sat at the bar, food and drinks were great, and a fun crowd of people.

I had been happy enough with my queso fundido boiling cheese and sausage fondueesque meal to go to Agave semi-regularly. I stopped going when friends commented that the food was too expensive and was not very good. I returned a few weeks ago because a friend from Boston, who had lived in Phoenix for several years, had wanted to try... More

Everything was perfect in our experience: the food, the service. I recommend staying downstairs (bar atmosphere) if you don't have kids.

We have been to Agave several times before and always loved the food and service. However, we were disappointed this time because the Pork Carnitas entree was just okay - partially overcooked; Chicken Taco's were made with medium corn Tortillas - tasty. House Margarita were excellent but the Strawberry Margarita could have been better. Our table had to be changed... More

Mexicans would be ashamed if they knew about this place first of all they are really expensive I ordered a burrito that was made with canned shredded chicken , mozzarella cheese , the was horrabile taste like sardines , and the refried beans were canned beans, the shrimp tacos had three frozen minnie shrimps inside, with tons of raw cabbage... I lived in the Southwest for many years, so I have pretty high standards for Mexican food. Agave is surprisingly good for New England. I have tried the chile relleno, the chicken tacos and the carnitas. Their bar is excellent with a fantastic selection of tequilas. The bartender mixes his own recipe of sangrita (not sangría, sangria), which was really... More

Visited Agave in Newburyport after a Sunday morning of shopping. Entered through the front door and were not met by a greeter we waited for a couple of mins before the bar tender ( who seemed busy) went out of his way to offer us a seat near the bar. Service was great in the bar/lounge area and my glass... More

Stopped in for lunch with friends and enjoyed the food. They make an excellent house salad, full of veggies with slices of mango. I added a side of black beans and a side of guacamole, which made for a great lunch. The sides were on the pricey side...almost $4 each. My friends enjoyed their tacos. Attentive, friendly service and nice... More
