4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2013 NEW

We spent two weeks "on the quiet side" of Mt Desert Island, aka Southwest Harbor, Maine, May 25-June 8). The first night, a Sunday, we ate at Sips. I had an outstanding lemon risotto with Maine shrimp. My husband had sirloin filet. I was crowded and we didn't have reservations. Three of us ate at the bar, and it was... More

Wonderful food, friendly staff, and clean dinning. Grab a glass of wine and bowl or soup and sit back and relax. make sure to save room for their chocolate mousse, it's to die for!

Atyipcal food for the locale (meaning that it wasn't focused heavily on seafood) and offered a wide range of options. Apple chevre (cheese) salad got 2 thumbs up as did the Mediterranean Haddock. Live music (blues/jazz band) was lots of fun. We weren't rushed from our table by the staff when the band started and our meals were finished. Service... More

Sips is a nice place. We did not partake of the coffee, but everything smelled great. Their happy hour is from 4-6 and all drinks except for bottles of wine are half price. They have a unique beer selection with beers from around the world, most of them I'd never heard of. Beers are normally 4-5 dollars each at regular... More

Veggie club was good. Crepes too. Hummus and pita chips are great. Prompt and friendly service. Nice decor.

Had dinner here with friends. Thought it was a bit pricey. Very good service - slow, but that was okay with us. Steak eaters enjoyed their filets, fish and pasta eaters were happy. Desserts were tasty ( fruit cobbler, chocolate torte). The place wasn't full, but it was very noisy - there doesn't seem to be much to deaden the... More

The only reason I did not rate this five stars is because the service is somewhat slow. We stopped in here for lunch after hiking Mt. Mansell and were surprised at how long it took for our food to arrive (and there weren't too many others in the restaurant.) That being said, the food was terrific. I can only imagine... More

The food is usually good. They have some pretty good local bands. Wind selection is ok. A bit expensive, bot it has an up-scale atmosphere. Many area locals go here.

All three of us enjoyed our meals even though we had the basic fare offered. I had a BLAT - bacon lettuce avacado and tomato with greek dreesing, one had the flat iron steak, said to be tender and juicy and the other had the ribs special also delicious. A favorite local band, The Larks played after out meal making... More
