Description: Perched at the top of Munjoy Hill in Portland’s East end, we are a chef-owned restaurant built on fresh market ingredients, friends, and family. Chef/owner David Iovino grew up in a family that valued coming together over food, and that tradition has carried forward as the foundation of Blue Spoon. We have fun in the kitchen, but we also couldn’t be more serious about what we do. That’s why we get our goods from the very best: Black Kettle Farm, Laughingstock Farm, Stone Cipher Farm, Fishbowl Farm, Freedom Farm, Valley View Farm eggs and meats, Wee Bit Farm beef and pork, Lankin’s Gorges Cheeses, Woolever Farm lamb, and Rick Tibbet’s mushrooms.

We stumbled across Blue Spoon last week while traveling in Maine. Honestly, the food was fantastic, creatively prepared and delicious. I ordered the shrimp and chorizo open faced sandwich which was very tasty. My husband had ordered the soup of the day...chicken with some green leafy things...One bite and I ordered a cup. We also split a generous slice of... More

I went here on a Friday night and was deafened by the noise. This is a small place and the particular acoustics of the room make it almost impossible to converse with your dinner companions. The wine was delicious: fume blanc, and the salad very good but I left with my ears ringing after being able to speak and hear... More

Over the top good and some of the best meals we have ever had in Portland or even Boston. We started with smoked mozzarella, prosciutto and ricotta fritters……and monkfish - potato chips - oil cured black olive - herb mayo…both incredible bites!! We split the salad - mesclun greens - apple - red onion - almonds - goat cheese -... More

Had a wonderful lunch sitting at the bar. Meat loaf with blue cheese--who would think of that?--for my husband and a fabulous seafood stew for me. Great Spanish wine for both. Friendly waitress and fun interaction with the chef.

Brunch menu was varied and food was excellent! Service was slow but the staff was very pleasant. It filled quickly as it's a small restaurant. We will definitely visit again.

We were here last night, had just a wonderful meal and experience. I had, as I always do, the Mezze Plate -- always similar in theme, cheese, meats, nuts, spreads, but always different in execution! You know you're going to like it, but it's always a surprise! Wine was great, the tapas small plates are interesting and priced so you... More

My husband and I have dined at The Blue Spoon twice now and will surely go back again and again. The Slue Spoon is a quaint venue on Munjoy Hill...the menu is diverse and wonderful...we have ordered the meze plate (both times) which is a lovely array of cheeses, fruits, nuts, toasted pita, and olives. My husband had the bistro... More

We've been to this place a number of times over the years when in town. It was never awesome but was usually good. It has gone way down hill. So many better restaurants in Portland that this one is off the list for us. Was so pleased that they now take reservations and that they now have a full bar... More

We stopped in for lunch without a reservation on a Saturday afternoon and ended up sitting at the bar, which faces the open kitchen, so the view wasn't all that nice. The rest of the restaurant is nicely decorated, but small, so you might want to have reservations. The food was excellent - I recommend the bistro burger, which was... More

We booked the Blue Spoon entirely on the basis of TA reviews and had a memorable evening with friends while we celebrated two birthdays. We've been to a great many Portland area restaurants but inexplicably missed this gem on Munjoy Hill until now. Our party of five had a great variety of food, from the meze plate to the trout,...
