I have been to many "local" types of places in and around Lexington, and this is one of the best. I ordered the Kentucky Hot Brown and it was amazing! Toast, Turkey, Ham, Cheese Sauce, Melted Cheddar, Tomatoes, and Bacon. This is one of the best hot browns I have ever tasted.

Best pub food in the city. Gourmet comfort food and stiff drinks! They also show soccer on a couple of the many tv's.

Sadly, Winchell's only exists in Lexington... which is probably a good thing because if I had the option to eat here regularly, I would be broke and severely overweight. First of all, it's not just UK Wildcats friendly, it's a haven for UK basketball fans. The bar is open late - On weeknights! and the food is TERRIFIC. Check out... More

Wanted to watch the Arsenal on Saturday morning, and most sports bars aren't open by 9:30, but we scouted Winchells on Friday for lunch. Superb pulled pork, braised beef and baked beans, but mac and cheeses bland. Bartenders Tom and Brian took very good care of everybody. This morning, a full breakfast crowd was well into it, but not watching... More

Like the previous reviewer, my wife and I were in town for the NCAA Tourney. We went to Winchell's on the Friday "off day" to enjoy lunch and watch the afternoon games. Bar area offered great seating to watch the plasma's, bartender was more than willing to swap games around so the "best" game got audio. The entire bar area... More

This is not where I would go if I was looking for the best food in a top flight environment. But for our purposes this was great. I was in Lexington for a basketball weekend with my son for the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament. This was our first trip to KY and we were looking for a sports... More

Today was my third time eating at Winchell's and my third disappointment. They say third time is a charm....and I agree. It took 3 times and now I will NOT return and will not recommend this restaurant. I don't think I've given a poor review before, but felt this is warranted. Dining out should be a pleasurable use of your... More

I'd call this more of a diner / dive that serves really good bar food. We had the fried green tomatoes, veggie plate (acorn squash, green beans, sweet potato, salad) and winchell's sandwich. The FGT were not good, the batter included corn meal which was burnt. The veggies were all good, but the winchell's sandwich had too many French fries.... More

I recently ate at Winchell's for the second time. When I am back in Lexington, I hope to return. Food was very good, and our server was great. All six of us agreed that we'd like to eat there again. Word of mouth really pays off because I heard about this restaurant from one of my doctor's in North Carolina,... More

If you visit Lexington, KY, don't miss going to Winchell's restaurant to dine. The food is delicious every time. A wide variety to please any palate. From Gourmet to Burgers. Friendly wait staff and very attentive. It is high on the list of total restaurants in town.
