The food and sevice were good. The interesting part of the restaurant was the decor. Inside the front door is buffalo made out of denim patches.
I enjoyed this place very much. The bartender at Boot Hill recommended, and I must give him kudos for this recommendation. The service was great and so was the food, even the calf fries. I would eat here again.
I thought the food was great, best steak I've had in a long time, aged beef here!! Awesome flavor even the shrimp was great in a garlic butter maranaide. Calf fries, cowboy caviar lol was good too, first and last time ill be eating them though. I just had to try them!
We were really looking forward to a great steak for the last night of our vacation. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The steak had ALOT of gristle, they ran out of butter (for the baked potato) and had no chives. Apparently they had a large group and the rest of us got the shaft. The rocky Mtn oysters and the... We ate some wonderful 22 oz Premium Kansas T-bones here. I will come back here the next time we are in Dodge City.
The Cowtown has had a great reputation in Dodge City for decades. I don't know if it has always earned it or not but they did on my visit. Recommended to us by hotel staff as local fare, good food, reasonable prices. What we did not expect was how friendly the owner, Mike Casey was to my husband and I. When you are traveling across the country, these local restaurants and people are what make your trip and drive pleasurable. Thanks, Mike.
We were seated in a banquet booth and waited on by a competent waiter. Our salads were fresh and crisp. Our steaks were served as we ordered them, medium rare. They were nicely seasoned and aged perfectly to bring out the beef flavor. So many steaks today don't taste like anything but the seasoning. The owner was friendly and talkative... More
I would not suggest visiting this establishment - the server was very nice (hence two stars), however, the food was not great tasting. Most of our table got side salads to start and the lettuce tasted stale. Many of us ordered steaks and they were not seasoned and tasted bland (even though other reviews stated they were "aged perfectly" -... More
