Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We've been doing a hot dog tour around the country tasting "the best hot dogs" as stated by several other reviewers. The buns were great. The hotdogs themselves were ok. The toppings were less desirable looking and tasted as they looked. We made it a...basket with fries, onion rings, and cole slaw. I dug into the onion rings right away, but they disintegrated in my hands. I tried the cole slaw next, but after one bite I was done because it had an alcohol taste to it. The fries were good. The staff is young, and they took no time conversing with customers. Instead they were more concerned with each other and "looking busy." There was also a weird man that was milling around the grounds and behind the counter. I imagine he was the owner? But, he walks around with a tick and also doesn't converse with the customers, so instead he just appears creepy. Wouldn't try Teds again.More

Three of us had lunch and ate in at the Ingersoll location. Two of us got Gyros and one a bacon burger. Excellent food! The onion rings and French fries were perfect as were the sandwiches. The fries were as perfect as they could get...and the onion rings were just as good. The dining area was clean and neat and as we were leaving, they were already cleaning the booth we had used. Parking in their lot is a tight fit so get there early for lunch. For a good lunch, this place cannot be exceeded.More

This was an excellent choice for lunch. We both got the gyro sandwich. The meat was very tender and tasty. Friendly employees, too.

I asked for a cheeseburger and fries. I got a beef burger and fries. The employee asked me if I wanted a beef burger or a cheese burger. I said, "A cheese burger please!". It's not what I wanted or paid for and really the...beef buger is not good. Overly salty.More

I have come back for the gyro and fries over and over. Our kids love it, and my husband and I are always happy we went, too. It is a place where you can feel comfortable showing up in yoga pants and a hoodie, as...it is a place of comfort.More

Ted's Coney Island on Ingersoll never disappoints! Their gyros are out of this world! The meat is fresh and warm. The pita is soft. The tzatziki sauce is perfectly seasoned. My order was taken promptly and the staff were very polite. My food came out...in a timely manner. Definitely worth the visit!More

My visit was poor all the way around. The teens or twenty something employees could have cared less about the guests. They were methodical without an ounce of effort to make the visit palatable. The coney dog was disappointing. When I think of a coney...I think of a soft steamed bun, grilled hot dog and runny chili with a slap of mustard and finely chopped white onions. Ted's coney is a regular bun that is dry rather than steamed. The hot dog skin has a snap to the bite making it hard to chew. The chili was thick. I could not see or taste mustard. I did see onions, but they were flavorless.More

Stopped to try the gyros and were not disappointed. Had the gyro with feta basket which includes fries, onion rings and coleslaw. The meat was tender, there was a generous amount of feta, tomato and onion. Also had the chicken gyro and the chicken was...juicy, the tzatziki sauce was delicious, and the tomato and onion were generous. I don’t normally like onion and was surprised it was not strong and I barely knew it was there despite the large amount. The fries and onion rings were crispy and not greasy - very good. The coleslaw was tasty. The entire meal was so good and the price was very reasonable - around $25 for two of us with drinks and meals. We will be back to try other items on the menu.More

Asked people in the office about that Iowa delicacy....a pork tenderloin sandwich. They recommended Ted’s. Decided that tonight was the night to give it a go. About a 10 minute drive from the hotel. Not that busy when I arrived and was able to park...in their free parking lot. Ted’s offers hot dogs, numerous burgers, gyros, salads, some vegetarian options, Italian sausage and of course pork tenderloin sandwiches. I ordered the pork tenderloin with everything (ketchup, mustard, pickle, onion, lettuce and tomato). I ordered the basket which means you get french fries, onion rings and coleslaw. You place and pay for your order at the counter and then they bring it to you. After sitting down the tray arrived. The pork tenderloin sandwich was HUGE. It stuck out over all of the edges of the bun and it was hot. Even though it came loaded I added a little more ketchup. The fries and onion rings were OK, not extraordinary, but good sized portions. The coleslaw was pretty good. If I go back I would get the sandwich and then order a side of coleslaw. There is so much food and in my opinion the coleslaw was the best of the sides. The pork tenderloin sandwich was hot and tender. The condiments were a good addition. A good recommendation from the people in the office.More

I like Ted's Coney Island. There is something about the gyeros I just plain ole love. It is a throw back in fast food a reminder of the good ole days. Ted's been around for awhile, and I hope the business stays!

One of the best local fast food! Great Coney Island and Chicago dogs! The best deal is on Sunday you can get 5 any style hot dogs and 2 large fries for 12.95. A really great deal seeing as a Coney alone is 3.75. They...also have Gyro's and burgers, great fries and chili. If you are in the area you need to try it out.More

The atmosphere has open, rustic & yesteryears feel to it. Quiet, casual & comfortable. I have been eating there since it opened. It is a family-owned restaurant which has its roots in the downtown Des Moines Coney Island from back in the 50's. The Chili...recipe is the same. I love the gravy like texture & taste of their chili with a little spice to liven things up. It goes well by itself or in a coney. They serve excellent homemade onion rings. Tenderloins are great too. My wife favors their Gyro's. They have many many other offerings but those are our favorites. I've never ordered anything there that I didn't enjoy. Their prices are very reasonable. I would recommend them to anyone.More

Nice atmosphere. Clean restaurant and friendly staff. We purchased a cheeseburger, hot dogs and fries. The fries were great but the cheeseburger and hot dogs were just average. Not quite what we were hoping for.

Even though this is far from my home in the western burbs, it is worth the drive. As far as I am concerned, the best menu items are the Gryro with Feta Basket (Plenty enough to split). It comes with plenty of sauce, onions and...tomatoes. Order it all onion rings and no fries. The fries are good like many places, but the onion rings are exceptional. You won't be disappointed. Next best thing, if you are craving something fried, is the giant tenderloin. Get it with cheese and everything else you can. Other menu items are good, including the humble cole slaw, but I usually just stick with the best. Service is fast and friendly, and you can drive thru. Go there!More
