We stopped in after our bike ride to catch a bite and cool off. The bartender was great, as were every staff member we encountered. Friendly, honest, downright great! I had the guacamole burger at the bartender's recommendation. He didn't steer me wrong. It was wonderful! My husband had an oyster po' boy. They shucked the oysters to make it.... More

Went for a late dinner, which is next to impossible to find in the Ancient City. Actually, not only did they have the late night menu, but actually allowed us to order from the entire menu! Our server was attentive and polite, and the live acoustic guitar music was pretty good. Much better guitar player than singer though! the beer... More

After suffered through another Irish resturant we were hsppily supprised by the B.R., The shrimp coctail was delicious ,bangers and mash had nice flavor and the lamb shank was wonderful. Its off the beaten path but well worth it along with prices that are greatly cheaper than other establishment on the bay. Suppose i was paying for the view. Will... More

Neat little place. Friendly staff. Ok on beer selection. Must try the Irish Egg. Delicious. Fish and chips good. Nice white fish. Not too greasy. Didn't care for the cole slaw though Vinagry and I like mayo slaw. .

This was our second trip to the Barley Republic Public House. They know how to pour a pint of Guinness correctly. This is critical to being authentically Irish ! They also serve a good half and half / black and tan. We sat at the bar and they were very busy but it was a reasonable wait time to get... More

i ordered the shepherd's pie. big mistake. well 1st of all was the $4 extra for a *very* small salad that i didn't like (the arugula salad--dressing way too vinegary). i switched with my hubby, who had ordered a ceasar salad. it was good, but also very small, for $4. now the shepherd's pie---no lie---it tasted like Campbell's Vegetable Beef... We visit St. Augustine at least once a year but have never tried the Barley. We had been planning on going to the Prince of Wales which is just down the street because I was craving some fish & chips. I think I'm always craving fish & chips. I must have been British/Irish in a previous life. There were two... More

This is a nice hidden gem, slightly off the main tourist area (Saint George St.) with a wonderfully diverse menu. I too had the shepherds pie and absolutely loved it. No skimping on the lamb or any of the other ingredients here. The fried shrimp were large and perfectly cooked without a lot of batter. Our party of 6 had... More
