Food was excellent, service terrific and the porch dining was delightful. Though a bit unseasonably cold, the portable heaters did the trick.
I always make time for a meal at this restaurant when in SB and have never been disappionted. I messed up my reservation and they still found me a great table on the terrace while I had a drink at the bar on a busy Saturday night (thanks again). The fish is outstanding (highly recommend the grouper and octopus), the... More
We had a great meal at Fish Called Avalon, a true Miami experience. The mojitos, key lime pie, and seafood won't disappoint, and the outdoor seating is a nice treat in February. The location is right on A1A, so if there were a rating for people watching, it would be 5+.
OK: If you are looking for bargain dining, don't come to Miami Beach. Every place is expensive. Live with it. So restaurants need to differentiate themselves on food, service, and ambiance. AFCA is co-located in the Avalon Hotel, near the middle of the Ocean Blvd historic strip with both outdoor and indoor seating. To their credit the staff restrains from... More
Excellent food, great atmosphere (very romantic) and the service was top notch. We went there based off reviews from TA and Yelp. It seems hard to find places like these in South Beach. Most of them are scam artists with average, overpriced food and poor service. This was definitely a nice surprise. Prices were typical of the area, but at... More
My husband and I recently dined at A Fish Called Avalon in South Beach, Miami. We ordered the scallops as an appetizer and split an order of sea bass and an order of ribeye (It's a great way to have surf and turf in reasonable portions). Anyway the scallops were melt-in-your-mouth delicious! And the sea bass was wonderful. It was... More
Food was wonderful and service was better then average for Miami Beach (found service throughout stay to be a bit lacking, server here was good). Food/atmosphere was good. Expensive dinner.
This was our second visit to Fish Called Avalon, and it was even better than we remembered the first. We got it in to South Beach in the evening and dined at 9:30 (moving our reservation back from 9:00 by phone). Since it was quite windy that night, we chose to eat indoors rather than on the porch. All tables... More
I eat out alot and have to say this was as good as I have had in a while. The night before I kind of got gouged and this restaurant was so nice, great view, guitar music in the background, nice waiter and incredible food, from the bang bang shrimp apetizer to the seafood my friend and I had to...
