This is my boyfriend's favorite place to eat on the island. We frequent it as often as possible. The chef has his own garden and uses the freshest ingredients possible. My favorite dish is the shrimp and grits, paired with the pear cider.

Very good food and atmosphere. Fried green tomatoes with goat cheese are excellent and would highly recommend. I tried the brook trout with endive and it was very, very good. My husband had the fried chicken and said it was the best he had ever eaten! Great choice to eat.
On our visit to 29 South we sat on the porch, a great choice since the weather was nice and the views were of the beautiful neighboring Old Florida historic homes; the restaurant itself reminded us of our own home; craftsman-style yet airy.
We had the fried green tomatoes; the goat-cheese stuffed inside was a great contrast, very tasty!

As a couple constantly seeking great dining and culinary experiences, we rate 29 South Eats on our top 10 list. The freshest, farm to table ingredients are used in creative recipes yet remaining approachable. We visited for dinner twice during our four day visit to Amelia Island. We must say it saddens us that we cannot visit this establishment on...

We have eaten at 29 South Eats before, and loved it, our last visit was not as good as the first, but would totally return. We especially like how they use produce and products from local farmers. The fried green tomatoes were not as memorable as the first time, nor was the shrimp and grits. Our waitress was very friendly,...

I have vistited 29 South many times and will many times more. The menu will seem a little odd, but in a good way. It's not a typical kind of place, it's an exceptional kind of place. The food is fantastic, service is the same. The sweet tea brined pork chops with mac & cheese are out of this world!...

Food did not seem as good as the reviews I read made it seem. We were really looking forward to a wonderful meal, but had average food. We had the soup which was a little salty, burger was average, crab cake sandwich not outstanding. Our waiter was great, though. Maybe they just had an off day ? A little disappointed.
Our starters and main were very good. It's a nice setting. Service was ok. The prawn and grits main was fantastic.
Many places are closed in town on Sunday. We just wanted a healthy lunch. We were hesitant with this little place when we first arrived. Being gluten free was a challenge here, however, the server suggested the vegetable frattia which was filling and delicious.
We were here last year and visited 29 South Eats. We loved it so much we had to come back again. Both my husband and I had the pork chop with mac & cheese/preserves. I know it sounds unusual, but it is very very good. All ingredients are fresh and garden grown. We also had a fantastic bottle of wine...
