My wife and I went to this little Mexican restaurant for dinner based on prior reviews. The first thing we noted was that the cheapest dinner on the menu is $13.99 and it goes up from there. When we ordered we were told by the server that the restaurant does not offer fountain drinks (only cans) and also does not... More

Been going to Sarapes in Enfield for as long as it has been open. The decor is out of the 1970s, but the food is amazing. The Puerco en Pipian (Pork in Pumpkin Seed Sauce) is to die for, and the spiced pork (Carne Enchilada) should not even be legal. They make a great guacamole, and the staff is incredibly... More

I have been familiar with the spin off restaurant in Hartford (El Serape) run by junior members of the family for several years. Always heard of the superior reputation of Mama's place in Enfield. Now I'm here to second the emotions of everyone on the Excellent side of past reviews. Others have more than adequately described what there is to... More

Makes me homesick for Arizona. Best menudo this side of Texas. Tripas, lengua, they got it all. Very nice folks too.

Small, quaint and authentic. The food is cooked to order, the seasonings superb, and there is no comparison to any of the socalled "Mexican" chains. This place is fantastic.

My wife has always had great food experience. This is my second time and again I was amazed at the fresh vegetables and spices used in the dishes. It's great to see family style resturant in today's fast food economy. I was also impressed with there recent make over.

Been there twice and was blown away by the menu and the food. Havent had this quality and varity since I lived in Tucson or Denver. Service is great, a really nice family restaurant owned by folks from town. This is a must stop!

When I left California I didn't think I would find an authentic Mexican restaurant in CT, but Sarapes has proved me wrong. They consistantly put out a fantastic meal for a great price.

New England tends to be a bit of a wasteland as far as Mexican food goes, it's nice to see a restaurant that defies the stereotype. My mother is of Mexican decent and we had pretty much given up on getting decent Mexican food in the northeast until we discovered Sarapes. The menu consists of the typical street food fair... More

Went a couple of times when they first opened. The problem we had was the language gap which caused errors with our order and the food was pretty good. Tried them again. Now they speak English but food was stale and dried out. Straw is a pretty accurate statement.
