Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We only came to the Famous with a group of friends to celebrate a special occasion of one couple. We won't be back. The service was appallingly slow. Caveat - the steaks and proteins do NOT come with any sides, so these are of course...an additional cost. My husband ordered the ribeye, which was served on a plate with no garnishes, nothing, not even a sprig of parsley or a slice of citrus, so it did not look appetizing. (He said it tasted okay but was not worth $58.) I ordered what the menu said was a half-chicken. I got only two pieces, a drumstick, and what appeared to be part of a breast, sliced in half cross-wise, and a small amount of a veggie-dumpling mix. this was another dish (costing $38) that was to say the least over-priced and definitely misrepresented. If not for the pleasant group we were with I would have raised a stink about the chicken and/or we would have walked out.More

I sat at the bar for a light dinner. Bartender was very attentive and extremely knowledgeable of the menu and options. I ordered the Greek Salad and a slaw appetizer. Both were visually appealing and tasted great. I gotta return to try the steaks. Based...on my one light meal experience, I would recommend this Steak House.More

We ate at the restaurant in 2018 and my review was very average. This review is about the same. My wife, son and I ate dinner. My son had the Ahi Tuna and it was very average. My wife had the shrimp cocktail and she...said it was great. We split the wedge and my son had a salad. I had the chicken which was very good. I ordered a baked potato, butter only and when the bill came they charged me $2.00 for butter, are you kidding me who the heck charges for butter on a baked potato. Embarrassing. The bread was great as was out server. I was in the mood for my favorite dinner of Lamb Chops and I looked at the menu and they charge $80.00 for 4 chops. That is without anything else. I had lamb chops at the Rabbit Hole for $40 and they were great. The bill was $224.68, that included 3 drinks and one dinner side. Not worth the price. Next time in Colorado Springs we will skip this restaurant.More

Absolutely outstanding dining experience. Warm attentive service for the entire meal by “Taylor” in the bar area. Great live music and cool vibe. Started with a wedge salad and then the ribeye, cooked and ordered rare with green bean and bacon. Had a few old...fashions along the way and finished off with cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake. Enjoyed every bite…wonderful 😊More

After closing down our booth at the National Space Symposium a colleague & I decided we needed a good steak dinner. Brian our server was very personable recommended the old fashion when we said we needed a cocktail & it was a great one. He...suggested the brussel sprouts a seasonal veggie however my coworker doesn’t like them. I had the filet with blue cheese crust & he had the flatiron wagyu beef we split mushrooms & a huge stuffed baked potato. I brought half home. Then we topped it off with a piece of flan for dessert. The live piano music was a nice touch. Fantastic dinner to conclude an extremely busy week in Colorado Springs. We’ll be back.More

This spot was so enjoyable. The ambiance, the food, the wait staff, the hostess and the manager were great and so personable. Nice touch was the piano player who was there that night.

What a disappointment. My wife & I have been dining at The Famous off-and-on for more than 20 years. It's been several years since we visited, however, what with COVID and electing to dine in Denver restaurants for special occasions. Last Friday, Feb 3, was...our 50th wedding anniversary. We decided to celebrate at The Famous as our children are treating us to a special dinner in Denver the following week. For appetizers we had oysters on the half-shell and Ahi tuna tartare, which were very good, as was the waitstaff. For our main course we each selected steak (this is a steakhouse, right?). My wife opted for the Ribeye, and I had the USDA Prime New York strip. Two different cuts, both flavorless and each laden with fat and gristle. We hardly touched our meal because the meat was so tough; it was almost inedible. We did take the leftovers home as we hated to waste $115 in steak. But the next day it was even tougher, so we disposed of it. The steaks we buy at Walmart or Costco are significantly better than that which The Famous served. Don't waste your money. It's sad to see a once upscale restaurant sink so low.More

My mother and I were visiting from South Dakota and Iowa. I have eaten a lot of steak but this fillet was the best I’ve ever had! We all agreed! The loaded potatoes were the biggest we had ever seen! Everything was delicious!

Following many recommendations, we made special occasion visits over the week. The bar staff were incredibly entertaining and had great suggestions from the menu. Love the food, yet the highlight really was the atmosphere and the staff.

First off I gotta say I really wanted to like this place - definitely low brow but when accounting for the price, food quality and early 1990’s meets 1880’s vibe atmosphere it gets a generous D+ overall rating from me. My steak was lacking in...quality - tough / fatty for a $46 NY Strip and had about the worst ‘loaded’ baked potato for $14 ever - guessing it was sitting under a heat lamp as was bone dry - my niece’s salmon was raw on the inside - upon a second try, they brought it back burnt. Maybe this place use to be great based on ratings I’m seeing - guessing they’re living off of nostalgia - it’s nothing but an old, tired and overpriced kinda place now.More

When you walk in the door you know immediately that the noise volume is going to make it difficult to hear a word being said during dinner. We were seated in a nice booth. The wedge and the Caesar salads were good but the Greek...was not. The filet was good but the salmon tasted really fishy. The baked potato was good. The creamed spinach tasted old. The Brussel Sprouts were good. Over all experience was just average. Nothing to write home about. The prices for the quality was outrageousMore

The Famous has always been one of our go-to places, and still remains. As others have said, it isn't the same, but it isn't bad either. The steaks are always spot on delicious, sides are family sized and worthy. I will say the service still...ROCKS, but the value is slipping due to nickel and dime tactics...they actually charge $2 for butter on your baked potato. Sorry, I normally am not one to be petty, but come on, they provide all the butter a table wants for the wonderful loaf bread, then stick (oops on the pun) it to you for a half ounce of of butter. At the price per pound, butter for a baked potato is on par with the price for their signature steaks. Ok, off my soapbox. Still a great place, still on our top list, still look forward to every visit.More

We had a group of physicians from a medical conference who are used to the best steakhouses in the US and they all loved Famous Steak. Super friendly and food quality was excellent. Specialty drinks superb and the waiter hustled hard (with an injury also)....NY Strips done perfectly, Filet's done perfectly, all sides amazing. Highly recommend and more economical vs. the large auto surcharges at Broadmoor. Worth a trip ! Well doneMore
