I was on a quick visit to Santa Monica and really just wanted a few snacks and some wine. It has such a tourist feel and location I did not expect much but went along with the crowd. I ordered the clam chowder, quinoa salad and the Barata cheese with beets which was superb! Everything was very tasty. One of... More

We were dressed really casually, and managed to score a table without a reservation, on what looked to be a busy night. Expensive, but beautiful. Clam chowder was fabulous. We just had an appetizer, a glass of wine and soup--wonderful.

We have been here several times and it is always exciting.Sometimes difficult to get in if you did not make a reservation sometime in advance.Once seated the view is overwhelming and so is the atmosphere.Informal and a little trendy with young waiters who are very gntle and flexible. If you love oysters, clams ,crab etc this is the place to be.Good winelist... Fills up fast for dinner so reservations are strongly recommended. Pricey but my clam, shrimp & sausage appetizer was more than enough for dinner. My husband loved his steak & the fries were awesome. View is wonderful! Definitely recommend it.

I booked this restaurant for our second night in Santa Monica. We were taken to a window table and the blind was fully drawn up for the sunset - splendid sunset. We ordered wine and were brought bread with tapas in olive oil to put on breads, it was lovely. Then we ordered the Octopus, simply divine and beautifully presented.... More

What a view, had the lobster (fresh, tasty, well prepared), sea urchin (was a first, wanted something different ) although I must admit it was quite pricey it was good and I am happy I tried it. The service was great and the waiter was very attentive. Price tag $140.00 for 2 people no wine or spirits.

It's been many years since my last visit to Santa Monica. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that The Lobster, once a run down and abandoned restaurant is operating once again. And it's good! While you could easily dismiss the place as a tourist destination - it has a fabulous view of the Santa Monica Pier and Pacific Ocean -... More

First visit to The Lobster and I must say this restaurant is great. While it could be a touristy spot and is probably always crowded they seated us exactly on time - the service was great - non-rushed and very attentive. We will go back and see what the sunset must be like. A hint - use valet parking -... More

We walked in without a reservation. They were packed. The maitre'd squeezed us in. We saw the sunset. The wait staff was great. The best part was the food. Get the lobster. It's well worth it. If I have any criticism, it would be that the Cosmo was a little strong.

Not bad food, pleasant staff, busy, pleasant view on a clear day. Tables a bit tight together but that sort of adds to the vibe unless you're grossly ovwrweight!
