Considering this is Ocean Ave. in Santa Monica, you might expect this would be a big, slick place to mirror the high rent. Instead, it's been designed to feel cozy, down to the small front patio across the park. From that vantage point, you can't go wrong with a bottle of Arneis and a dozen oysters on the patio (which... Oysters were excellent. Lobster roll was solid though not as good as a Maine lobster shack. Broiled fish and pasta with seafood were both very good. This is a reasonable local spot with good food and nice service. It is a place you can return to regularly.

The place was crowded, and they don't take reservations. Happily, we were seated rather quickly and found the service to be very good and the menu selections extensive and excellent. They do have some outside seating available. A bit pricey, but not terribly so.

Few weeks ago I went there with my dear friend Roy we both love oysters.I haven't had them for quite a while since my last trip to Hawaii,so we decided to go.This little cozy restaurant/tavern has limited sitting and they don't take reservations. It was Monday night and this little place was packed, but oh boy is it worth waiting for the... Visited The Blue Plate Oysterette to check out the oysters. I am just beginning to explore the world of oysters and the waiter was very helpful in helping me select which varieties to try. The oysters were delicious. Apart from oysters, we ordered the baked clams, mussels in the white wine and herbs sauce, and the lobster mac and cheese.... More

Nice location, pity about the food. I've eaten here several times over the past few years, usually for lunch with a friend or a client, as it's convenient and the seafood is pretty fresh. Over the last year or so, the prices have risen just as the quality of the fish appears to have slipped, the never generous portions have... More

The oysters were good but I am not a huge oyster fan in general. Try the Lobster Mac & Cheese and the Lobster Roll! You can not leave without having the Key Lime Pie! Even if you don't like key lime pie get it because this pie will change your mind!

We stayed one night in Santa Monica at the end of our honeymoon and wanted somewhere funky for dinner, and we had a hankering for seafood. It's a really cute looking place near the sea, great decor. After reading some reviews I ordered the 'small plate' lobster mac and cheese and was really disappointed - the lobster was overcooked, the... More

Right on Ocean Avenue, this small seafood restaurant has a great rotation of oysters on the half shell from both coasts. The mussels in a cast iron skillet are terrific and very inexpensive. Awesome mac and cheese. Limited but good wine list. Service is generally good but the place gets busy and it can be noisy. Reservations a must. Sit... More

I love it here. It brings the best of the east coast (oysters, oceanside eating) and west coast (surfers, healthy food) together in one place. Gorgeous interior by Tim Clarke. Don't miss the huge octopus gold mirror. Sit at the bar mid afternoon with a glass of prosecco and a tray of oysters to skip the tourists. Coconut brown rice... More
