Darling neighborhood cafe with quite a variety of food. I chose the Lemon Chicken salad with asparagus, Nicoise olives and fennel on the fresh lettuce with a lemony vinaigrette. OMG yum. I will be back!

Conveniently located. Choice of dining inside or outside on the sidewalk patio. Comfortable studio atmoshphere. Very fresh food presented creatively. Menu changes frequently. Always something exciting featuring local produce, fresh fish, and farm raised livestock. Great homemade soups. Good selection of beverages including herbal teas to beer on tap. Desserts are delightful !
Eight in the morning on a Sunday - it's not easy to find good eats. Magpie was just opening, and the place we had intended to go was still closed. What a find! I had fruit, yogurt, & granola, and the fruit was not your run-of-the mill stuff like oranges and apples, but I got berries, and kiwi and other...

Variable menu means that you won't be bored with the same old thing. They try different things out so there is always a reason to come back. Service is gracious, and the the dining room is quiet, so you can generally have a nice conversation with your date on the other side of the table. An extra hip place, next...

Magpie has amazing food. Every day they post pics on Facebook, and it makes it hard not to eat there all the time! They also have the best oatmeal raisin and chocolate chunk cookies in town. The BLT is my favorite menu item, I don't know that I've had better bacon anywhere ever!
Finally came here for dinner tonight. Sacramento was being nice and had some very bearable summer weather tonight. Think East Bay. I miss living there (sigh)...
Anyway, I had the salade nicoise with wild salmon. What made this different was that each segment of the salad was separate. So instead of having a jumbledy salade - as they usually come...

I have been to this restaurant for lunch and dinner in the last week. It is fantastic. The food is fresh and well presented, the staff is pleasant and accommodating. We had breakfast for the lunch meal - breakfast is served until 2:00 (at least on weekends.) everything was well prepared and satisfying. For dinner, six of us had a...

We visited the Magpie based on the review in TripAdvisor. We were surprised how good the restaurant is. The menu selection is freshly updated daily with creative culinary skill. We ordered 3 different dishes and every one of them are excellent in presentation and taste. And the most importantly, the chef is very conscious about balance of nutrition and not...

I bought a small lemon tart and a chocolate chunk cookie for an after lunch snack. It looks like a good place to eat. I will go back for lunch soon
Went to lunch with a Sacto friend on our way to Tahoe. For a neighborhood hole in the wall, this is a little gem. Totally unpretentious. Cement floors, sandblasted brick walls, and big glass window made for a noisy interior. Outside was just fine. They are recommended by Sacto Slow Food and a big proponent of Farm to Fork that...
