Happy to find somewhere that has beignets as good as those in New Orleans. Go for the Bourbon Chicken with the sweet plantains. This is Creole cooking at its finest, but be warned that some of the dishes are fairly spicy. A great addition to our area, so a bit of spice is nice. And did I mention the beignets?

Dhat Island is like a hidden treasure! When you happen upon this quaint restaurant you are blown away by the tasty treats inside! We had the fried okra which was served beautifully in long cut strips. I've never seen it served that way before. The House Josh Special Sauce dip for it was tasty. Next I had the Ox Tails... More

If you like Carribean and Haitian food, you will love Dhat Island in Redlands. With a small, slightly out of the way location, Dhat Island is the real deal in terms of taste, authenticity and menu options. We started out with fried okra and sticky chicken wings. The okra could have been spicier, but it was good, crisp and fresh.... More

Today, I chaperoned a group of students from my daughter's high school to an "outing" at Dhat Island in Redlands, CA. From the minute we were seated, we were warmly welcomed by Mariyah, our server. Her joyous smile was infectious! As we were there on a field trip, our experience was a little different than the regular diners that were... More

Our cuisine is a fusion of Spanish, Caribbean and Creole. The base is Haitian. Many years ago the French title Haiti "Pearl of the Islands". It was because of its rich culture, beauty, food and arts. The tittle of your review " A Cultural Pearl" means a lot to our purpose. We're so glad you enjoyed your experience at Dhat... More

My wife and I had dinner here with family on the advice that it had some really tasty food. We weren’t disappointed as the food was really good, just not the best Caribbean food we have ever had. The restaurant is nicely decorated, and the staff was outstanding. The owner stopped by our table multiple times and made sure we... More

Hearty food, large portions at a good price ... tasty and quick. We went to lunch with friends. I was hoping for jerk food of some sort but got very good Creole chicken and it tasted like the chicken I had in Belize. Our server was very friendly with great personality. Get the extra pikilz and hot sauce on the... More

First of all, I must stress that the beignets at Dhat Island are nothing short of incredible. Served pipping hot from the kitchen, they were fluffy and light; a heavenly experience. My wife and I shared the Vegetarian Feast, opting for the Creole Eggplant Stew and Grilled Portobello. I had never eaten Creole food prior to eating here but found... More

My family of 5 were taken (reluctantly) to this restaurant because it's surprisingly hard to find Caribbean food in our area (LA). I was pleasantly surprised to find that Dhat Island has a children's menu with mainstream-meets-island dishes that made all three of my kids - including two six-year-olds - happy. My husband got the equivalent of a jambalaya dish... More

My husband and I tried this restaurant for our date night. We wanted to like this place, but just couldn't. The food was just too salty and overcooked. Extra salt doesnt make something spicy or flavorful all the time. We tried the gumbo and tilapia. The beans and rice were browned and salty. Thought it was impossible to mess up... More
