This great pastrami place opened in the early 1960s and I have personally been going there since 1965 as a 10-year old with my grandparents. Nothing much has changed over the years, which is a good thing. Inside booth's and counter with music selection at your table with mini juke boxes. Outside dining with two fire pits. The menu is... The food did not have that real pastrami taste that it should have, especially with their advertising.

Love this place almost as good as NYC Pastrami. I have to say the chili dogs rock too. Come hungry and come often this place is a most while in LA

Down in Culver City for a Memorial Service for Tak Yamamoto, the organizer of the Manzanar Pilgrimage for many many years. After the service I became nostalgic for the long summer days we spent on Venice Beach ending at Johnnie's with a great Pastrami Sandwich. Same great Pastrami, same firepit, same tabletop jukeboxs and same fun atmosphere. Wish the bread... More

Being on the road for work sucks. I arrived at LAX at midnight starving. Staying on the westside, there's a few food options, mostly junk. Johnnie's was close to the hotel so I decided that I might as well go for broke. I had a pastrami and chili fries. I probably should have just stopped at pastrami but chili fries... More

Not in the class of Langers or Brents, the pastrami sandwiches are the snack bar variety - that is more fat and not as tender, but still worth a stop when I am in the neighborhood.

Nevermind the fact that parking is very difficult, the food here is pretty good for the $10 price tag. I usually get the butterfly shrimp which comes with fries AND hush puppies! Perfect "comfort food" spot.

the pastrami special is excellent. Lots of meat with not alot of fat. The fries are crispy and light. Their burgers are also excellents.. As far as fast food goes Johnnies is the best. Also try the onion rings!! you'll go back for more.

My boyfriend and I went to Johnnie's on Sunday. I have been going to Johnnie's for the past year and the pastrami sandwiches are far better than other places I have gone to. Johnnie's has been in business since 1952 and the atmosphere is back in the 1970's with the juke boxes on the table. The service is always great... More
