Our first visit to Riva Cucina was not a good one... Everything up to the entrée was satisfactory, not excellent but ok. Nice, tasty antipasto, an ok tomato salad, But the entrees were ok and awful. I had the sole, It was decent enough but the potatoes were way over cooked and the fish was a bit dry. K had... More

Nice space in a converted mill-type building. Very good, carefully crafted food. Good service, though we were there on a Sat nite. Sort of middle-of-nowhere location, off Ashby, you will never wander here by accident.

Had a family dinner here post graduation ceremony...other than forgetting one of the sides we ordered, the service was really good. Pasta bolognese was delicious, and my wife's lamb entree was excellent too. Price was upscale, but worth it in our opinion, even though someone else paid the tab in this instance. If in Berkeley again, would definitely consider returning.

We dine here for a birthday celebration and were very satisfied. The pasta was tasty, the wine was good, the service was fast. The architecture is nice and the atmosphere is pleasant. If you are not expecting for a gastronomic experience but just for a good Italian dinner you will not be disappointed. If you live in the neighborhood it... More

We were a party of 10 looking for good Italian food on a Friday night, and Riva Cucina was happy to accommodate us with just a couple of day's notice. An easy drive from San Francisco in a rather unassuming area of Berkeley, we had a great time. Plenty of diverse wine selections (corkage available) and a wide array of... More

Everything about this place was a winner for myself and our party. We were warmly greeted for our Saturday night pre-theater dinner. Comfortable seating. The menu has many creative dishes. We enjoyed the burrata (cream filled fresh mozzarella,) the beet salad, and the artichoke soup. All were excellent. We all ordered pasta entrees and all were perfectly al dente and... More

This is one of those places that you have a second thought about reviewing because it's so awesome that you don't want to share it! My wife and I were in the bay area celebrating our anniversary and I picked this place off of my cell phone on a whim. We had no reservations, but they accommodated us at the... More

Riva Cucina is understated, sparse and wonderful. Excellent menu- great service - very popular - pricey and well worth it for the superior quality.

If this is the #1 restaraunt in the E.Bay scene then there is Trouble in Riva City for a meal for 2 over $300. Very friendly and attractive staff. SMALL tables for two. No place to put the gift I had brought but on the floor. Starters: MA. Bay Scallops and the arrancini. Scallops very well prepared and presented on... More

We visited Riva Cucina on the way to the OAK airport to have a quiet dinner before staying overnight near the airport. We made Open Table reservations, and were greeted when we arrived by a friendly and courteous server. The restaurant has terrific, fresh and tasty Italian food, a very nice wine list, and exceptionally good service. I must have... More
