This place is ex-pat surfer heaven, with an amazing view of the Pacific and Cano Island, an all inspiring variety of buffalo wings and very good burgers. Also one of the better dining values the area.

Perched high above the ocean at the end of a steep dirt track the Jolly Roger is one of those places you cannot quite believe exists. I say that only because I feel that many would simply not take the time to drive up the hill but I can assure you that it is absolutely worth the effort and that...

Great local hangout for gringos. The wings are fantastic and it's a fun place to have a few cold ones.
Please note that we didn't actually eat at the Jolly Roger, because when we got there we realized that they operate on a CASH ONLY basis. My bad! This info was right in my Costa Rica guidebook!
My rating of average is because we didn't get to try the food. The prices appear to be reasonable - mostly in the...

After a tough drive to get to a house we had rented at the top of the hill - my friends and their kids needed a break. The Jolly Roger was an amazing suprise - the chicken wings are some of the best I have ever had, the view is lovely, and the vibe is mellow but happy. The staff...

If you want to eat mediocre chicken wings and pizza and above average burgers in Costa Rica then by all means visit the Jolly Roger. If you want to enjoy authentic Costa Rican food then stay away. the Jolly Roger is located off a dirt road and the drive is probably the most exciting part of the visit. This is...

We went on the last night of our vacation, and the food was decent. A great atmosphere too. Although, if your from the Burgh, the best part was that the owner is from Pittsburgh, the walls were covered with Steeler memorabilia, even though it's not a full out Stiller Bar. It is good food, but it didn't wow me (The...

It's an adventure getting up that road, but it's worth it if you're looking for some great food in the area. I loved the pizza, my husband liked the burgers and wings (we went twice). I know it sounds weird going to Costa Rica and getting pizza, burgers, and wings, but we had a great time there.
Good food and a fun place. The road to get there is a steep mountain road unpaved. Worth it though. The place was packed when we arrived so service was a little slow ( understandable). Burgers were about $10 US each. For four people we spend about $80 US.
We did not need reservations. Staff was friendly and fun. Seating...

This delightful restaurant in the hills above Dominical may cater to Americans, but the friendly hospitality and atmosphere are pure Costa Rican. We arrived desperately hungry after a full day of surfing on the beaches below the restaurant and were greeted by Lyle, an ex-pat from Colorado, who helpfully explained the menu, gave us recommendations, and told us where to...
