This was the only 'non-soda (costa rican local diner is called a soda) good meal of the whole trip. I was overall very disappointed with the touristy places and astronomical prices of the 'nice' restaurants of the arenal area. Cascajo was great, so good that we came back for another meal after a day at Tabacon. A good burger, roast... More

We ate at several restaurants in Costa Rica and this was by far our favorite. We ate there twice. The "steak cascajos" was great much better than the Don Rufino that was recommended to us. The "Arroz con Pollo" and the "Arroz a la Montana Parque" were also two of our favorites. It was also very reasonably priced. Highly Recommend!!!

Had lunch. Tacos were tiny little tortillas with some chicken. Taco Bell is just as good. Service was a bit slow.

This restaurant was recommended by one of the canopy guides at Athica Canopy. It's a great little local place and was one of the best meals we had while in Costa Rica. They made our coffee at the table using the bag/hot water maker. The chicken and rice was to die for.

We read all the glowing reviews about this place, and decided to give it a try while in the area. The food we found to be average at best. We were also told that they were open for breakfast, which they are not. I don't know if it was the time of year that we were here, as we were... More

we went here on our last night in the area (three nights) and it was by far the best meal we had in the entire area. the food was fantastic, the waitress was super freindly (and spoke english very well). the atmosphere was great as well- outdoors restuarant, with a roof and all. it was down the block from our... I do not know if it was an out of season "disaster" but the food was awful. We were alone in the restaurant..., two bottles of wine that they have opened for us were stale (!!!). However, they have tried in anyway they could to keep us happy, but the food level and the emptiness of the restaurant were beyond... More

Good price, local spot, nice place for a casual lunch. Casada was good but not the best. Heart of palm salad was delicious. Laid back service and atmosphere. Good location near arenal national park.

I came across Cascajo's while doing some research for the trip. I was ecstatic heading over to the restaurant after an epic zipline experience. I was even more hyped when I saw a lot of customers sitting down, confirming the positive reviews online. Boy, was I wrong. First of all, the airy restaurant had a subtle but stunning view of... We stayed at Tabacon at came here for lunch and dinner. I highly recommend that as the food is better and more authentice here than Tabacon. It's also more affordable and your money goes to a local family versus some hotel corporation. The fresh coffee, the fish with garlic sauce and the ceviche were awesome. Also, you can walk here...
