Loved this chain. It has a fantastic "70s retro" feel about it. When you walk in, it feels like you have been teleported back to a Starsky & Hutch film with its neon lights and underfloor disco type floor. Whoever thought of this has a creative mind. This is simply a superb restaurant for Sichuan dishes if one truly enjoys Sichuan peppercorns and chilies. Their food is very strong in spicy peppercorns (“mala” in Mandarin) as indicated in the Chinese name of the restaurant – Mala Youhuo (the seduction of spicy peppercorns). Being so near to the now defunct Barbie Store on Huai Hai Road, this establishment reminds me of the term BOBFOK. Body of Barbie, Face of Ken. Sadly, the decor doesn't really live up to its food. Promising tantalising Szchewan cuisine, the chicken curry wasn't cooked (we took samples in case we needed to be wheeled into the hospital, where... More
