Dakshinayan, located at Teen Batti works well for 2 reasons: 1. Location and 2. for being one of its kind. I was looking for a good South Indian restaurant in South Mumbai and was surprised to realise that there wasn't much choice here!!! Since we really were not in the mood to travel all the way to our usual favourite... More

Dakshinayan Restaurant on J M Road , Pune claims that they provide ‘Authentic South Indian Food’. I had visited the restaurant recently but returned disappointed. The ambience is good and the staff is courteous (wearing black lungis giving a South Indian feel). The food is not on par with ‘Authentic’ South Indian food standards and is exorbitantly priced. Being a... More

This is one of the only south indian restaurants in South Mumbai which is open early ( we visisted at 8.30am and it was already full) and serves all its food at the same time. Excellent filter coffee, prompt service and good food.

The food is AMAZING - too too good... idli in rasam, button idlis with gunpowder, loads of sambhar, great dosas, upma, rose icecream. Not sure if there are branches of this place - I ate at the Juhu outlet

Dakshinayan has quickly become one of our favourite South Indian restaurants in Mumbai. Although it is pricier than its more famous cousins in Matunga/King's Circle, the authentic taste of South Indian food is preserved. The service is quick with a very cordial staff. I would definitely recommend this place.

This is my favourite Sunday morning brunch destination. The steamed idli, the sambhar and the rasam are to die for. The dosa's are good and I recommened the Mysore Sada dosa. Its a small restaurant tucked away in the corner of Teen Batti @ Walkeshwar. They do not take reservations and avoid going after 11.30 am on Sunday morning. Being... More

Whether it is delivery or sit in, Dakshinayan does not disappoint. Based out of Walkeshwar, this place delivers food to most parts of South Mumbai. Parking could be an issue for people who go there, but the restaurant advocates the use of the space under one particular police chowk opposite it. The food is excellent. The menu is 100% vegetarian... More

I went to their Pune Deccan Gym branch. The disappointment was there appam. They just can't make it in a genuine way. Imagine eating dosa in the shape of Appam! that's all. Appam contains only rice and coconut milk, while the socalled appam they give us was appam shaped dosa. Kurma was just paste with no vegetables at all and... More

This small eatery serves authentic South Indian food in South Mumbai and has been a saviour in the past whenever there was an urge to eat dosas and idli. This is one of the few South Indian restaurants who do not add sweet to their sambar and chutney to cater to the Gujarati customer. The place albeit small is neat... More

This restaurant is very popular with the local people, who are mostly not South Indian. Therefore, some of the South Indian dishes have been tweaked a bit in terms of flavour in order to cater to the local taste. However, it is really very, very good. Since there is a paucity of restaurants in the immediate area, this is a... More
