Seeing this was recommended by lots of people, this was the first place we tried,we all opted for beef steak and waiter seemed rushed off his feet nodded and brought to us what looked like a beef hot pot.we didn't argue as I didn't really feel comfortable. The atmosphere was very crowded and cats kept coming under our tables that may... More

This is an excellent restaurant Two adults and our child eat very well for around 170 Le on two occasions. This is a very simple authentic Egyptian restaurant. They serve local specialties (mixed grill with kebab, kafta and ribs, stuffed pigeon or chicken or duck, lamb or veal shank, rabbit, rice mixed with noodles or with nuts or with liver... More

Do not expect a nice candlelight dinner but this is a very simple authentic Egyptian restaurant. They serve local specialties (mixed grill with kebab, kafta and ribs, stuffed pigeon or chicken or duck, lamb or veal shank, rabbit, rice mixed with noodles or with nuts or with liver and kidney, testicles, etc) for decent prices (30 to 70 EGP per... The old town is a bit smelly, grotty, and a touch scary, but it is similar to naama bay with regards to the shops and products you can buy. Its just a bit smellier. Its worth a visit on your hols to pick up your products like bags, shirts etc as its cheaper than Naama bay (which is already pretty... More

If you want McDonalds please go to McDonalds. If your visiting Egypt and want to try something local then please eat at the El Mastreens in Old Market or Nabq Bay. The food is local and is prepared in a local way. It may not be up to the style you normally have, but the half chicken tastes great and... More

We ate here the night before Ramadan and were the only tourists in the place. We were surrounded by Egyptian families, who didn't seem to mind sharing the place with us, although I was a tad overdressed, which the waiters found quite amusing. The family next to us even offered us hand wipes before we ate. We ordered a selection... More

'The Egyptian' restaurant in the old market was recommended to me by my egyptian instructor. And if the locals eat there it must be good! was my way of thinking. Boy were we not wrong! 3 of us ate for around £20 and were embarrassed that we couldn't finish the meal. I have never tasted anything like it, I'm hungry... More
