You would never know by driving past this place that there is even a restaurant attached to the accommodation however we have been staying at the Shangri-la for years and we always go to Gecko's. If you're staying at the Shangri-La Fiji, be sure and take the time to go to Gecko's Resort for dinner - you would have passed the tiny resort on your way to Yanuka Island where the Shangri-La is situated. Disappointing, considering it's a great alternative to resort dining nearby. Only people there, service was terribly, food ordinary. A waste of time.

It is good to know of an option to the "exclusive" restaurants of Shangrila. The personnel of Shangrila are not allowed to tell you of the competition. (read my review of Fiji Shangrila.) Having frogs hopping around us was a bit perturbing until we noticed that we were not being bothered by mozzies etc - the frogs were fixing them. Drinks and meal were good quality and good value. Very enjoyable, semi outdoor, little frogs hopping around were a perfect entertainment. Food is excellent, we ate there twice, especially the curries, but there is a varied cuisine so all our family found something to eat. Just a 7min walk from our room in shangri-la resort. well recommended. Fair family friendly prices Kiwi family from Wellington.

the restaurant is across the road from shangri-la but as we had two littlies (5&7) we took a cab (cost $10 retrn). THe restaurant was empty (7pm time) and had lots of frogs hopping all over the place...being an outdoor place...also lots of flying & crawling companions which isn't the best ambience but the staff immediately lit several coils around...
