Seems like there are no big signs on places in Quito like there are in the US. Down to the end of the street, in the cul de sac, up the stairs and inside. Ate in the bar room. Ambiance was great - dark and quiet. A few good beers outside the usual Pilsener selection. Helped us out with locating... More

To say that this is the number 5 restaurant in Quito is like saying that the Yankees double A farm team ought to be in the majors, just because they won their league. The food was good...not memorable...but good. The presentation was superb. The chef must have gone to design school. The portions could have been a bit larger. Service... More

Went to la Cuchara for dinner on a Saturday night. It took us a while to find, worth asking one of the locals as it requires ducking behind a flea market and up some steep steps if you're coming from the main road Av Pinchincha. The place has a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Being three vegetarians, we were impressed... More

I love this casual but charming family-run restaurant. It's on a hidden little cul-de-sac in the San Marcos neighborhood of Old Town Quito, maybe a 10-minute stroll from the Plaza Grande/Presidential Palace. There's a lovely little bar with good mood lighting, great home-brewed and imported beers (the American co-owner brings back west coast microbrews from visits home), good wine, and... More

We had trouble finding places vegetarians could eat outside of "Gringo Land," and found this place refreshing, affordable, and quaint. We went here on the last day of our trip unfortunately, but it was absolutely fantastic. The art gallery was alright in terms of substance; however, the building itself was peaceful and welcoming. Had I known this place existed on... More

Vegetarian and non-vegetarian people were in our party and we were all satisfied with the food and the service. We found traditional ecuadorian dishes that were converted into meatless entrees and were full of flavor that didn't vary much flavor-wise from their meat versions. The location is also terrific and while you wait for your food to come you can... More

Loved my visit to this truly charming and unique location. I am Ecuadorean American and was truly impressed at the new and healthier take on traditional dishes. The "seco de chivo" was a delightful surprise. The art galley in the adjacent room and the plaza are themselves worth the visit, but the food and drink make it a must to... More

I really wanted to like this place and was excited to try it, given the positive reviews and charming setting. The courtyard was really peacful, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is combined with an art gallery featuring works made with recycled materials. We had some difficulty finding the place as it is actually further down... More

An unusual combination of good cuisine with art. However, we enjoyed the food even with art, excellent cocktails. A very nice vegetarian selection, too. Service friendly and perfect.

I've lived in Quito for five years and love exploring new restaurants. Naturally, I was drawn to this one because of it's first place ranking on Trip Advisor. I don't understand all the hype. I was hoping for beer, there was one import and no microbrew. The food wasn't bad by any means but it wasn't a smash hit either.... More
