We ate here twice during our stay in Quito and loved it. Pretty restaurant, nice atmosphere and great service - the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The menu is varied and everything we tried was very tasty and beautifully presented. Loved the complementary starters too.

For most gringos, the name of the game is cheap, but every once in a while you need to splurge a little. (If you can call $70 a splurge). We found the food to be fresh & well prepared. We enjoyed the amuse bouche, appetizers, main, dessert and a lovely bottle of Argentinian wine, all for a third (or less)... More

I have had the pleasure on several occasions of eating at Achiote. Each time I (and my companions) tried a variety of offerings on the menu. The food was always delicious, each and every item. I've eaten in many of Quito's restaurants over the years, some very good, but I can't speak more highly of this one, for the quality... More

This restaurant serves Ecuador cuisine. We went with a group of friends. The staff are warm and friendly. Everyone had something different so we got to try each others food. The food was exceptionally good and well presented. The bill for eight of us was 150 dollars which included a mixture of soft drinks and bottles of wines. I would... More

This restaurant had amazing food, super friendly staff(Tyrone), and a pleasant atmosphere. My boyfriend and I wanted to go to Zazu because of the great reviews on Trip Advisor but when we called to see if they were open on Sunday there was no answer. We decide to go to Achiote and we were so happy with everything about Achiote... More

I went here for real Ecuador food, based on Tripadvisor Reviews while my wife and I were passing through Quito on a tour. We took a cab, and there were only a few poeple there when we arrived. In fact, had to knock on the door to be let in. The restaurant is small, but nice and on a residential... More

We were only in Quito two nights and we ate here both nights. Yes, it really is that good. The menu is varied with an excellent selection of traditional Ecuadorian food. I think you could eat here for two weeks and still not try everything. Plus every night there was a different little comp appetizer that was unlike anything else... More

I ate here right before my late night flight and had an amazing experience. I walked in without a reservation and was informed that they were full and they suggested I come back tomorrow. When I said I was leaving that night, they were able to accommodate me at the bar which had a lovely picture window and was great... More

We ate here with a group of 8 during April 2013. The Ecuadorian cuisine was excellent, the service friendly and professional. The waitress helped us choose a reasonably priced and excellent wine. I highly recommend this place, and it's convenient because it's in the Mariscal, one of the main tourist areas of Quito. There was live guitar music in the... More

I have recently moved to Quito and had a very special - and reasonable - dinner at Achiote. I sauntered into the restaurant on a Friday evening with no reservation ; the restaurant was packed. The hostess seated me with no problem , my waiter was very attentive and helped me order. The mixed empanadas and the tender traditional pork... More
